Briefing Packet for MI-5 (SAB branch) Counter-Intrusion Force
Mission Name:Visiting Hours [see: Air Superiority for additional background information]
Team Type:Counter-intrusion
Purpose:A self-proclaimed sibling of Magnie [Last name unknown] has informed us that they intend to break her, and only her, out of a detention facility. The team’s purpose is to stop this breakout. Use of violence, including initiating violence is allowed, but escalation to lethal force is to be avoided unless absolutely necessary or the opposition acts in a manner warranting it
Operational Details: The facility's staff has been withdrawn to protecting the jail’s other inmates, they will not intervene unless it is necessary for the survival (not success) of the team.

There are three logical places for members of your team to make their stand.

  • The entrance to the underground facility.
  • The 30 meter hallway that is the only means of access to the cell itself.
  • Magnie’s cell.

The choice whether to split the team and where to place team members is entirely in your hands

Briefing Start Time:1900 GMT: July 29, 2020.

Mission Background:
Contact with Siblings: This morning a video-phone call was placed to the Royal Air Force and was quickly forwarded to SAB. It was made by the individual later listed in the document as Maelstrom. She demanded to speak with her sister and requested her release. She was allowed to do so via a monitored and time delayed channel and pronounced herself satisfied with how Magnie was being held.

Even so, Maelstrom informed Dame Eckerd that her sister would be free one way or another, but that she had no desire to see ‘normals’ harmed in the process nor did she desire to release any of the ‘real criminals.’

As Magnie’s crimes were relatively benign (compared to other offenders held in the SAB detention facility) it has been deemed that the risk of a breakout is acceptable to achieve the goal of showing deterrent force but good faith to a what is likely an incredibly power telekinesis user.

As a result, the SAB team will be the only force standing in the way of this incursion, with the remainder of detention center’s staff guaranteeing the security of the remainder of the facility.

Facility information: The main SAB detention facility is necessarily an extraordinarily high security facility with multiple overlapping systems to defend against all manner of potential assaults. However, in case this attack is a faint to test our strength and as they may interfere with the teams powers, we have shut off the majority of protections, aside from the measures preventing teleportation between the exterior and interior of the building.

Rather than a multi inmate cell block, each prisoner is kept in their own sub-facility, each with an independent and unconnected set of controls. This design is extremely expensive and requires extensive staffing, but it greatly reduces the risk a breakout in one section cascading into prison-wide break.

The faciliy's philosophy to an external assault is to stall such a force long enough for reinforcements to arrive. However, in this case unless the scope of the break-in proves larger than Magnie, reinforcements will not be available.

Cell information: Magnie’s cell has thick steel walls and a door with a single window. Given her fear of being grounded, the cell has a large chain spider web with a few canvas spreads between the chains that function as trampolines. In addition Magnie herself is wears a locked harness that is attached by three distinct chains to the cell walls. This has proven to be sufficient to dampen her powers without crushing her psyche.

Adversaries:
Maelstrom: Magnie’s older sister. Apparently older by a few years and brunette. Suspected telekinesis user.
Manic: Magnie’s older brother. As yet unseen, suspected telekinesis user.
Magnie: Capable of fast flight. Powerful telekinesis user capable of control any object flying through the air, including bullets. On a larger scale she is also capable of grounding planes and grabbing persons who aren’t in contact with the ground. However, if she herself is grounded she loses her powers, although the full extent of what qualifies as grounding is uncertain. This potential power loss terrifies her.
Other support:Details on any other potential are unknown.

Reward structure:
Primary Objective:30,000 pounds: Prevent escape of Magnie
30,000 pounds: Prevent any breach of security into the remainder of the facility
Capture of opposition force:20,000 pounds: Each member of the opposition force captured (max 60k)
Restraint:10,000 pounds: Avoiding fatalities or permanent harm to opposition force
20,000 pounds: Basis laid for future dialogue with telekinesis users
Note: Reward structure may be changed should the initial assessment of the situation prove overly optimistic
