Briefing Packet for MI-5 (SAB branch) Preparatory School of Magic Investigative Team

Mission Background

Mission Name: Preparatory School of Magic
Team Type: Investigative
Summary

The Preparatory Academy of Magic, a school for students age 11 and older, had been a minor arcane instructional school until the popularity of J.K. Rowling's line of books vastly increased demand among the well heeled. The current headmaster took over in 2005 and vastly expanded operations allowing for a few hundred students.

There have been three four recent thefts using a similar method of operations.

  1. (Sat 8/8) A suit of armour from the British Museum.
  2. (Sun 8/23) A crystal ball from Lloyd's of London.
  3. (Sat 9/4) An incense burner put up for auction by the extraplanar Frei.
  4. (Sun 9/12) A computer belonging to a famous hacker from Galactic Systems

In the latest theft a student from the Preparatory Academy of Magic was spotted on the video cameras of a nearby business.

Faculty of note:
  • Alvar Ethelbert (Male in his sixties, has been cultivating long white beard since began fundraising for the school) - Headmaster. Raised capital for founding of school, currently quite successful as a result. Extent of mystical ability unknown.
  • Jaida Kinsley (Female in her forties, black hair and tends to wear brown billowing robes) - Teacher and patroness of Unicorn house. Well respect witch who does consultative work for SAB. Should be trustworthy.
  • Luther Hurst (Male in his fifties, short but quite thin, greying blond hair) - Teacher and patron of Drake house. A wizard formerly affiliated with SAB but left on fairly poor terms and for higher pay.
  • Rica Ockley (Female in her thirties, quite rugged and fit, wavy brown hair) - Teacher and patroness of Lion house. Witch with a reputation as an adventurer before being brought on staff. Said to be quite powerful.
  • Lynn Theobold (Female in her late thirties, long red hair) - Mundane Matters Teacher - Highly decorated teacher hired to fulfill government requirements for a conventional education for the students. Not believed to possess any supernatual abilities.
  • Dennis Borland (Male in his early thirties, believed to presently be in the form of a centaur) - Groundskeeper. Some run-ins with the police in his past but nothing more serious than a pub brawl. Extent of mystical ability unknown.
Students of note:
  • Isaac Maddox (14 year old male, black hair, rather gangly) - Student captured on camera apparently involved in the thefts.
  • Jessica Winslow (16 year old female, last seen with died black hair. Looks to not get enough time in the sun) - Child of member of Parliament. In the past taken, somewhat willingly, from a cruise ship for vampires.
  • Mallory Corwin (15 year old male, red hair, fairly tall and fit looking) - Child of powerful magic family, both parents dead.
  • Maris Richmond (15 year old female, short cut black hair, tends to slouch) - Child of a different Member of Parliament and prominent businessman.
  • Dustin Amherst (14 year old with wavy brown hair. Fairly scrawny) - Child of a prominent financier.
Secondary portion of mission:

Upon completion of the investigative mission and additional work by Mi-5 criminal investigative units, a secondary SAB team will be sent to arrange for the arrest of any responsible faculty. This team will be charged with discrediting or providing a false pretext for the permanent departure of these members of the faculty.

This ruse is necessary given the past established trouble-making potential of the students and the potential negative publicity ramifications of a public arrest. Once those responsible are detained sentence arrangements can be made for staying quiet and institutional protections of the involved minors will be in effect.

Briefing Start Time: 1200 GMT: September 18, 2020.

  5. Gather any information that will assist in the second part of this mission.
