[Date: October 13, 2020. Time: 945 GMT.] [As they're leaving, Mandy manages to stow the scythe behind her back. It then disappears. Doyle looks disturbed by this and it will probably be the cause of much discussion on the car ride home. * Kahlya turns and looks straight at Saldin, once they're alone. "What do you make of all this?" * Saldin arches a black eyebrow. "There is quite a bit of this to make things of, Kahlya." Granted. Take it one piece at a time. (I should make a monk that all his special attacks are mental damage from spouting koans.) (Ha.) * Saldin shrugs slightly, and gestures outward with one hand. "You, as an extraplanar attached to this plane, somehow, became trapped between them upon a violent and unexplained death... and as often happens, was confronted by Death to resolve the issue." * Saldin then gestures with his other hand. "You have now defeated Death in the chosen contest, and now have an undead form to call your own, thanks to the help of that young girl and a lack of interference on the part of certain priests." * Kahlya stares at Saldin tightly with her cat-slit pupils. "Wait, you knew that?" * Saldin blinks. "That you were extraplanar?" * Kahlya shakes her hand. "I assumed that some one would be able to determine that. I mean if Breaker's reaction wasn't enough of a hint, then I'd be worried about the state of consciousness of the people here. For about a second." * Saldin smiles very slightly. "Then what?" But how I developed an attachment to this plane... I didn't even know... until... * Kahlya sits down slightly, propping herself up as best as she can. "There's so many unanswered questions. That is why I can't pass on yet. And above that... well... * Kahlya turns to look at Saldin slowly. "I guess what I'm trying to figure out... I didn't know these things had souls. I guess Mandy always believed that." * Saldin quirks his head slightly. "These things?" * Kahlya chuckles vaguely. "Never mind." * Saldin shakes his head. "I will be no help with no knowledge, Kahlya." That's why I want to talk to Breaker. * Saldin nods slowly. "I... she may feel uncomfortable around you." Beat. "Kahlya... your form has many... disadvantages." Beat. "You may find yourself needing distasteful things to live. I suggest you ask SAB questions on that front." She already feels uncomfortable around me. I asked for an audience. Besides... * Kahlya bites her lip. "Hopefully, I can get this repaired..." (I want her brains!) (Spicy brains.) * Saldin shakes his head slightly. "No, Kahlya... you are undead. Immortal, emotionally deadened, and unnatural." There is no... repair. Your form may become better with certain magics, but... * Kahlya chuckles gravely. "Wonderful." I've got to find something, still. I've got an obligation. * Saldin nods and says, "If I can speed your hard journey, let me know." Beat. "Peace is not unattainable if you want to stay here, Kahlya, but Mandy's grandchildren may be dead and gone long before you find it." Mandy... * Kahlya stops and thinks about that for a bit. Thank you. But I think, for now, I'll pursue these answers on my own. Not even with Mandy. * Saldin mms quietly, saying, "The scythe she took from the apparition stayed with her." Beat. "Her future could well be a difficult one, thanks to what she has done for you." I didn't ask her to do that, Saldin. I didn't even want her involved. * Saldin smiles faintly. "And yet she was. The world has a strange way of delivering its messages, Kahlya." I guess so. * Kahlya stands up and starts to walk off. * Saldin watches her go. "Mind yourself well, Kahlya." [End!]
