[October 19, 2020. Time: 10:42 am.] [The car coming down the street actually veers off to the hotel. Looks like the GM text from last time couldn't actually read the future.] [Mandy's lying there still unconscious but slowly coming around.] [The black scythe is still around, lying a few meters away.] [Start] * Kahlya is still laughing wildly, but starting to calm herself down. "I don't believe it. I really don't believe it..." * Mandy stirs a bit. Jason's punch was pretty effective though, so she's not about to jump up. * Kahlya shakes her head and turns her bloodied beaten form to look at Mandy. "Hey. You okay?" * Mandy doesn't respond. * Kahlya starts to look Mandy over to see if she's breathing. She's too wounded to really want to move. * Mandy seems to be breathing fine. * Kahlya lets out a sigh of relief and turns to shield herself more from the light. [Her cloak still does the job. Saki's blows weren't cutting.] (Right, but if she's lying on the ground, her face might get exposed. * Kahlya fumbles for the letter while Mandy's unconscious and looks it over. [Standard letter envelope. There's a small bulge in it. Written on the back of the envelope is 'Read letter first.'] * Kahlya snickers at that. "What else would I do?" She opens the envelope with her finger. [Inside the envelope there's a folded letter and a dull green mineral cut in the shape of a teardrop. The mineral has a chain attached to it.] * Kahlya looks at the mineral. "Huh. Guess that's what she was talking about." She takes out the object by the chain and looks it over, but then sets it back in the envelope to read the letter. [Give me a touch awareness roll.] (#sabooc) [Kahlya grabs firmly ahold of the chain, only to feel a burning sensation in her fingers. Not bad enough to do HP damage unless she holds on, but enough to leave small burn marks until she regenerates the wound. Not quite heat damage, but similar to touching an oven pan that's too hot.] * Kahlya hisses and drops the chain. "Aah. I guess that's a good reason to read the letter first..." [The letter says that efforts to track down possible portals proved unsuccessful. There didn't seem to be one in England that was a likely match for Kahlya...] [So instead, they found a tool used for astral projectors and dimensional travelers. It's attuned to find the location that the person was when they last left this dimension. So a projector could find his body or a dimension hopper could know which way home was...] [However, since it's highly attuned to this plane, it's holy, and thus not for vampire touching! Gloves or the like are recommended. Just hold it from the end of the chain and swing it back and forth, it will pull in the direction of 'home.'] Huh. Mandy? Mandy. You awake yet? Ugh.. don't want to wake up. * Kahlya smiles. "It's a wonderful dream, though. We made it, Mandy. We're alive." What? Oh... alive is good! () * *slowly tries to sit up. (* Mandy) (Also Mandy!) [The black scythe shakes slightly as its master awakes.] Yes. Alive is very good. For now. I was so ready to die. * Mandy rubs at her head. "For now?" * Kahlya smiles to Mandy. "Don't worry about it." She tries to sit up, depending upon how her body protests. (Body roll, -3 per level of pain resistance ) (It says "Feels no pain" actually. Whoops!) 2d8-3 (I think it's just one level anyhow.) [She's able to get up.] [Give me a sixth sense roll. * Kahlya picks herself up and nods to Mandy. "We also have a chain to follow." * Mandy nods and slowly tries to get up. Kahlya notes that the black scythe is trying to port itself back into Mandy's hands. It hasn't quit built up the power yet though. * Kahlya looks worried at Mandy. "Mandy. Are you sure you have control of yourself again?" * Mandy looks confused and tries to put that together. Kahlya can tell over the link that she's still groggy. I, uh, don't know if you should handle that scythe just yet. * Kahlya looks even more worried at the scythe. Oh right.. [Scythe is still trying to be summoned.] * Kahlya tries to reach close to the scythe, but draws away from any uneasy feelings she might get. [The black scythe is definitely giving bad vibes, but seems to be of limited power right now.] * Mandy shakes her head as she sits up. "So what happened? My memory is kinda fuzzy." * Kahlya pulls back. "You stalled her long enough and took enough energy out of her so that I could explain myself." She suddenly stares at Mandy incredulously. "You little minx. You didn't tell me you read that much of my memory." * *tries to look innocent. "Well.. it seemed like a good idea." () It turned out that way after all. * Kahlya sighs and stretches. How's the healing coming? [Coming along pretty well. We'll say she's halfway to fixing all non-holy damage.] * Mandy blinks as the scythe suddenly appears in her hands. "Guess I should put this away." Yes you should. [The scythe fades from view.] * Mandy gets up slowly. * Kahlya gets up too. "I need to get a pair of gloves. Can you pick up that envelope please, Mandy?" * Mandy walks over and does that. "Sure, why do you need gloves? * Kahlya sucks at her fingers now that she has a chance. "Because I can't handle whatever's in that envelope without getting burned. God, why didn't she use holy bullets?" Aah. I don't know, but she didn't seem the holy type. Maybe not. Lucky for me! () So you talked her out of it? ::Mandy checks in the envelope and pokes at the chain and mineral.:: I guess so. I'm still surprised on how that worked. I was so ready to die. Really? * Kahlya sighs and closes her eyes. "If you really searched me, you should have known I was ready to die by her hand after I figured this out anyway. Why?" Well... I was focusing on memories. * *is now known as Grysar * Kahlya looks down solemnly. "So you could get me out of it..." That's why I did it, yeah. (Gah, I'll just put Mandy in here.) * Mandy has joined #sab2020 * Kahlya shakes her head and slowly stands up. "I don't understand you..." What, because I wanted to save you? ::Mandy swings the pendulem idly, it doesn't point anywhere:: That's part of it. What's the other part? * Kahlya looks at her. "Why you're starting to act like Death." * Mandy looks sheepish. "I didn't mean too. She just made me really mad... and she wasn't right." Wasn't right how? I can feel when things are alive around me. Or when they're dead. Or undead. She was alive, but... well, I think whatever happened to her was *really* complicated. This is part of the scythe too? * Mandy bites her lip. "I couldn't do it before the scythe, but I don't get tired when I do it either." What do you get tired when you do? When I use the scythe to focus on where someone is. Like that time I threw rocks at you. It's easier with the scythe than with rocks though. Yeah. Let's get those gloves though. (Fast forward through glove acquisition?) *Sure.) [Kahlya and Mandy clean themselves up and manage to get a nice pair of gloves at a shop in town.] * Kahlya takes the gloves and finds a place without many people, looking around and taking a deep breath. "Alright. Give me the chain." * Mandy hands it over and looks curious. * Kahlya takes the chain and takes a deep breath, releasing it. [The pendulem points to the ground! Kahlya came from the center of the Earth! Or maybe that's gravity.] * Kahlya looks at it strangely, then reaches for the letter. "I need to check that again. [The letter mentions needing to swing the pendulem.] * Kahlya starts swinging the pendulum then. [At the nadir of each swing the pendulum points to the south west and has a subdued glow.] Mandy. Do you know what's in that direction? (West south-west more precisely.) * Mandy looks West South-West. "Not really. Maybe if we had a map." Yeah. Do you have one? Lemme get one from the store. Compass too I suppose. () * Mandy runs in the store and does just that. She comes back and tries to orient the map properly. * Kahlya nods and smiles sheepishly. "I'm afraid I don't have any money to pay you back." * Mandy succeeds. "It was just a couple of pounds." She gets out the area map. "Looks like the coast of Wales." Maybe you're Welsh. I...don't think I look Welsh. Do you? * Mandy looks at Kahlya. "Hmm.. not really. But you don't look like a mermaid either, so I don't think you're from the Ocean." * Kahlya rubs her head. "Do you know a place called "Magic Kingdom"? Yeah. I saw your fight. I'm not that groggy. I felt...really weird there. Like I knew the place somehow. * Mandy switches over to the small world map. "Well, there's a Disney World in France, Japan, and Qatar. Plus the two in America." Which one's southwest? * Mandy squints at the map for a bit. "Florida." Hmm. Florida... Yup. ::Mandy points to it on the map:; Is there any way we could get there? * Mandy shrugs. "Plane. Boat. Lots of swimming. * Kahlya frowns. "There's no way you could come too, is there?" She sounds hopeful. * Mandy grins. "These days they wouldn't notice I'm gone. I'll just call home every now and then. We'll need money though." Why don't they notice when you're gone, eh? Ever since I got the scythe, people let me do what I want. Unless it's something they care about. That's why I need to call home, it wouldn't work if they got worried. Really? How odd. Did you use that with Saki? I tried. But it doesn't seem to work at all when people know about magic and stuff. So it wouldn't work on me either. Just normal people. Right. So, can you get the money? * Kahlya frowns. "I used to be able to. If there's one thing I miss, it's conjuring things up on a whim. I haven't changed my clothes in like a week!" Eww! * Kahlya snorts. "I really have no way to earn the money. I mean, I guess I could buy it with what SAB's paid me. I don't really plan on going back to the tournament after today." Well, they still have to pay you, right? For what? Oh, they already paid you. I misunderstood. * Kahlya nods. "I...think I can get plane tickets." Great! (Fast forward? How long you want to go?) (Kind of tempted to end here. I mean, I don't WANT to, but I'm getting tired.) (Check. End!) [End]
