[Date: October 20, 2020. Time: 1:30 pm.] [Breaker agrees to meet with Kahlya at a lunch place near the oil rig. Fairly crowded and a half a block away from a church, but there's at least some chance of not being directly observed.] [The food is Indian. For lunch, a buffet is available.] [Start] * Breaker sits at a corner table. She's got a plate overflowing with a medly of Indian food. * Kahlya steps cautiously into the restaurant, glancing around and shaking the hood of her cloak as she enters in. She glances around uneasily and spots Breaker, heading quickly and quietly over to her table. * Breaker stops chowing down and looks up. "Hey. That thing I got you help?" Yeah. We're leaving today. Listen... * Kahlya then looks around before she's seated. "Couldn't you have picked a better place? This is just a little close..." * Grysar nods and scoops some food onto nan. "Bookie has a new girl who might be out to kill me. I'm playing it safe." (* Breaker) * Kahlya blinks. "What?" Raleigh or something. She's got some magic that keeps Saldin from scanning her. Nothing happened but... * Kahlya rubs her head with two fingers. "But you think you're at risk. Oh this is just *perfect*" Just trying to keep my guard up, y'know? * Breaker folds the nan and takes a bite. She's also trying to keep her strength up apparently. * Kahlya smiles faintly. "Then are you certain it's a good idea to let the strongest have a hold of you? I mean, the one who wins the tournament might be a great bodyguard, or they might be the most likely threat. I mean who knows? I might be the one after you." Her smile spreads into a grin, one that, even if her fangs aren't still there, look like they would fit perfectly into it. * Breaker sighs. "Yeah..." * Kahlya looks more serious on her. "You could always come with us. Although that might look bad on me..." She tries to suck in a deep breath and then lets it out. "You know, I don't really have to do that anymore, do I? Habits are hard to break..." * Breaker looks confused for a moment. "Do what? Oh, breathing. I'd say keep it up. Not breathing looks creepy." * Kahlya rubs her head. "Damn. Things were a lot easier earlier..." You're telling me. So what's up? * Kahlya turns her head to Breaker. "Listen. I'm thinking I'm going to be quitting the tournament. But I'd be hell if I go to SAB about it..." * Breaker frowns for a moment and nods. "Telling me is enough." * Kahlya looks quizzically at her. "You're disappointed?" * Grysar shrugs. "It's down to you, Yvonne, and Bookie. I was hoping Saldin would win." (* Breaker) He didn't? * Breaker shakes her head. Yvonne will do joint training. Or so she says. She scares me some, but that might be the champ instincts. And you don't think Bookie can beat her... * Kahlya says it as more of a statement than a question. Well, no. But not as if Vanguard's better. I guess if Saldin trusts her it should be okay. Are you certain that he does? That monk is... strange. * Breaker thinks for a moment. "He'd tell me if he didn't." Are you sure? He doesn't tell you half of what he's thinking. I'm not even sure it's that much. * Breaker nods. "Stakes are too high." * Kahlya steeples her fingers. "But I've figured that I've made enough trouble that it's not so good to get publicized. And since I doubt the coverage will drop..." Right. * Kahlya closes her eyes, fingers still steepled. "I hope you understand. I mean, you've done a lot for me. And if in the end it's your decision, I actually be willing to do the training. Unlike I was when I first entered the tournament..." * Kahlya slowly opens her eyes. "I mean. I did with Mandy. She's still got some work but..." * Breaker nods. "I get it. I'll be alright, I've got a good lawyer. Good luck with your, uh, quest." She smiles. Session Time: Fri Apr 21 00:00:00 2006 I guess that's a good word for it. Ha. * Kahlya looks out to the side to see if they're being observed. (Awareness roll) [One on the far side of the restuarant and a couple cleric types outside. None close enough to eavesdrop on reasonably conversation.] (reasonably quiet) But yeah. In the end, you've got to do what's best for you. No matter what your Agreement. * Kahlya does say Agreement in a way that it sounds capitalized in this case. * Breaker nods. "Yeah, but not going to learn if I run away from my choices." * Kahlya smirks. "Running away is a choice in itself. But often a poor one. It was good to know you, Breaker. And perhaps we shall meet again, even if in the next world." * Breaker grins. "If it's the next world, hope I don't see you soon." What? For my sake or for yours? Well mine mostly. Not that I want you to die... again... or anything. But of course you have to look out for you * Breaker nods. Anyhow, I have to head out to my flight. Mandy's waiting. * Kahlya stands up slowly and stretches her neck. Good talking to you. (FF to Florida?) * Kahlya heads out. To Florida! (So how'd she get her passport? Just for the record.) (How'd Mandy?) (Mandy can actually have one. She's got papers and such.) (This would be so much easier if she hadn't changed. :P) (A yup.) (I guess she'd have to get a fake one somehow then.) (Buy a forgery then?) (Or wouldn't know she needed one. :P) (If by "buy," you mean drain the forgerer when she's done, sure. ^_~) (Sure. Drain snack or drain kill?) (Or at least very much threaten.) (Not actually kill but leave him near enough to it that he might wish he had.) (Okay, give me an intimidate roll, just to establish the outcome. +4. Forgers are reasonably tough.) 2d8 [And Kahlya drains a forger after he outright laughs in her face. He's still snickering when he passes out. Vampires just don't seem to impress him.] ( My scythe isn't scary enough? ;_; ) [Time: 4:20 pm EST. 9:20 pm GMT. Kahlya and Mandy arrive in Orlando Florida and pick up any baggage.] ( What, you're a farmer? That's supposed to scare me?) [Resume!] * Kahlya2 has joined #sab2020 ( That's a sickle, you moron.) * Kahlya has quit IRC (Ping timeout ) * Kahlya2 is now known as Kahlya * Kahlya picks up what little luggage she has and sighs and she takes out her glove. "I hope this was the right thing..." * Mandy stretches. "I've never been in a plane that long before." * Kahlya cricks her neck. "Yeah. And the food sucks. I mean come on, how can you mess up peanuts?" I never really liked just peanuts anyhow. What *do* you like then? Crackers are good. What kind of crackers? And that'd get kind of boring, wouldn't you think? Most kinds. And peanuts aren't boring? Hey. Since when did I say *I* liked peanuts? Well, I wouldn't want just crackers, but they're better than just peanuts. [And the pendulem hangs until Kahlya swings it.] * Kahlya doesn't swing it in the airport. She hasn't even taken it out. Instead she goes where there's less to no people. [There's a fairly vacant parking garage nearby.] * Kahlya heads to the parking garage, takes in a deep breath and swings the pendant. [The pendant points North, North-East at the bottom of its swing. While the tilt was only slightly noticable last time, this time the pull on it seems much stronger. * Kahlya holds onto the pendant. "It's obviously getting stronger. I just wish we knew if that meant a few feet or a few miles." * Mandy nods. "Well, I guess we go that way until it changes direction." So just hold it out? I suppose we should hail a cab and drive with it, huh? * Mandy nods. "I guess." Any way we could cover it and make it look normal? * Mandy thinks. "Well, I could just pretend it's a toy." But you have to swing it. Huh... And how does it stay out? Well, maybe just swing it behind the driver's seat. He can't see it then. We'll try it. You hail them? Yup. Just find the taxi stand and wave your hand. () (And you can do that without any trouble, anything you want to do first?) * Kahlya shakes her head. "No, I mean *you* hail them." She grins slightly. "How else are we going to train you on your feminine wiles? * Mandy makes a face. "But the cab driver will be all old." Yeah. He might be in his twenties. * Mandy nods. "Exactly." * Kahlya pushes her forward. "Just try it." * Mandy waves a hand at the taxi stand. She doesn't get any attention immediately, as there's a fair amount of competition. More aggressive. Yell it! * Mandy waves more aggressively. "Taxi!" [With her more effective tactics, she gets a taxi pretty quickly. Two of you can easily get in, and driver turns back to Kahlya. "Where to?" * Kahlya snickers. "She is the one who called for it, sir." * Driver looks to Mandy. "Well?" * Kahlya takes the opportunity once his eyes are off of hers to swing the pendant and glance at Mandy to give the directions while she concentrates on finding out what the directions are. * Mandy points in the appropriate direction. "What's that way?" Uh, Interestate 4 miss. That's a start. [The taxi pulls out.] ~Feminine wiles means aggression and yelling?~ * Kahlya gives Mandy a smile and then sends to her. ~Sometimes they just don't work when you're 12.~ * Mandy frowns for a brief moment. ~That's okay I think.~ ~Would it help if I said you'd understand when you're older?~ ~Probably not.~ ~Orrrr...at least if you've hung around a few sex demons...~ ~Like Yvonne?~ [The pendant occassionally veers a bit off the highway, but mostly seems to be going in the same general direction. The angle slowly rises as you drive along.] * Kahlya mentally frowns briefly, but tries to keep her true expression neutral. ~I'm not sure what she is, quite honestly. I tried to get a bead on her but...~ ~Well, you don't have to worry about that now, right? You're done with the tournament.~ * Kahlya keeps trying but Mandy can tell that those words didn't really comfort her. ~Yeah...~ ~What's wrong?~ * Driver decides you two are probably too odd to talk to and he turns on the radio. The music is faded to the front and is spanish language rock. ~What's it called when you have an impending feeling about something and you don't really want something... wrong to happen to the other person?~ ~Uh... I didn't prepare for a vocab quiz. Foreboding? Sympathy? ~Huh. I guess that's it then.~ [Driver manages a pretty good speed on the highway and glances back every now and then to see if there's any updates to the directions.] ~You never felt that before?~ ~But I can't help feeling something's going to happen to Breaker that shouldn't. I mean, it's bound to happen.~ ~Not... really. Once maybe.~ * Mandy looks confused. ~So now that you're a vampire, you care more about other people?~ * Kahlya laughs faintly in Mandy's mind. ~Would you think less of me if I said yes or no?~ * Mandy thinks it over. ~Either is fine, I'm just curious.~ ~The answer is a definite maybe.~ [And a passing street sign notes that highway 4 goes another 43 miles and ends at Daytona Beach.] * Mandy rolls her eyes, but smiles. ~What? You should have known I'd answer like that. You can read minds, after all.~ ~Well, I thought you might think it over more.~ * Rowyn has joined #sab2020 * Kahlya has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer ) [And they keep up the mental banter. After 45 minutes you get to Daytona Beach. The pendant is now advising going east, towards the ocean. That's right from your perspective.] ( ~Well, I thought you might think it over more.~) ~And where would the fun of *that* be? * Rowyn nods towards Mandy about the direction. (Give me a navigation (urban) roll.) * Rowyn is now known as Kahlya * Rowyn has joined #sab2020 * Kahlya has quit IRC (Ping timeout ) [Neither of you are that great at navigating, though Kahlya's a bit better than Mandy. After wasting about twenty minutes on a fair number of wrong turns, you get to a street where the pendant points almost straight out.] [There's a nursing home to the left and a series of one and a half story houses on the right, with one larger older house at the end of the street. The pendent points there.] $92.50 please. * Rowyn is now known as Kahlya * Kahlya looks to Mandy for a second. * Mandy looks back. ~I don't have that kind of money.~ ~You can't influence him like you did your parents?~ * Mandy looks to the driver. "We're weird, you don't want to deal with us." * Kahlya just gawks wide-eyed at Mandy. * Driver looks a bit dazed, but he rather wants that money, so he doesn't seem to blank out completely. ~Almost got him.~ * Kahlya looks through the pack for some of her travel money and then counts out what she thinks is equivalent and gives it to him. * Driver looks at the pounds oddly. You can convert that easily. Forget about us. ::Driver nods:: * Mandy gets out of the car. * Kahlya steps out of the car as well and stretches. Then when the cab pulls off, she mentions, "Geez, this was MUCH easier before I died. All I had to do was whip up some money..." [A middle aged guy glances over as he sees two people get out the cab. "Hey Elsa. Feeling better?" (Elda) [Break!]
