[Date: August 4, 2020. Time: 1145 GMT. Weather: A bit cloudier than ideal, but what'cha gonna do, you don't have a weather witch on your team.] ( We'll have to go hire one. ) [The street is a good bit less crowded than usual, hopefully not noticably so. You have the choice of parking cars on the street, or in a hidden garage.] [The call will go out in about fifteen minutes. Currently there's a female priest some of you may recognize as Rev. Warlow leaning against a motorcycle at the site you were told to meet at.] [Now is the assigned meeting time, whether you're here yet is up to you.] [Start] * Red likes her car too much to park it in the street. She's there, tho, and waiting for the others to show while reading out of a mystery novel, looking up every now and then to look for familiar faces. * Marcus walks out of the nearest alley (or otherwise secluded place) over to Rev. Warlow * Warlow nods as Marcus approaches. * Red looks up, sees the good reverend, and checks her against a photo kept in a random page in her book. Confident that she's who she thinks she is, she places her placemarker, gets out, and walks casually over to Rev. Warlow, nodding in cursory greeting. * Marcus nods at Red * Grysar glances over at Red. "Two out four. That's a start. I'll trust you two can handle introducing yourselves." * Warlow did that. * Red nods at Marcus and holds out a hand, presumably to shake. "Leslie Contessa Veola Magdalin Marilu Aracelis Seifer the 3rd. Please, call me 'Red'." * Marcus blinks and shakes Red's hand. Marcus. We met yesterday. ( We did? Bad memory! How dare you betray me like that! ;_; ) * Marcus thinks for a moment ( You're cool red. :P ) Oh, my apologies. I don't think you actually saw me. I hope you'll forgive me. I let Victor and Kendrick in. * Red frowns. "Are you quite sure?... ah. You'll have to explain that." * Warlow casually checks over a heavily modified shotgun. It's got cruciform crossbars and a stake at the stock end and a bayonet at the business end. Seems very well looked after. * Marcus smiles. "I sometimes am less than I seem." Nice piece, Reverend. Should I be armed for business so soon? * Warlow shakes her head. " I'll be starting at a different site, keep your weapon ready, but hidden until you choose to spring the trap. * Red nods. (For those who have not before seen Marcus: He looks to be in his late 20s. Short black hair, and cleanly shaved. Green eyes. Stands about 5' 10", average build. Wears jeans, a black shirt, and a leather jacket.) So. Less than you seem, eh? How's that work, exactly? * Marcus turns insubstantial and runs his hand through Red's arm. "Like that." Uh-huh. Wouldn't that make you more than you seem, since you seem like nothing right now? Or were you afraid that'd come across as bragging? All of us are more than we seem. Otherwise we'd not be working for SAB. [Marcus finds his arm stuck when he hits Red's adamantium bones. Wait, no, that's Wolverine. Marcus doesn't encounter resistance.] (heh) * Red doesn't seem *too* weirded out by the display. ( I got adamantium bones? Sw337! ) * Warlow taps her foot. "You'd think he'd be here on time, but, at least we control the timing of this mission." And I suppose your statement on seemings does not include my humble mortal self? Look out below! * Red looks up. * Kurt lands RIGHT in front of red, all brown hair black sweats and and dark grey cargo shorts. * Red doesn't seem impressed. "Ello, you wanna watch where you're fallin'?" * Kurt is less hair than sweats, really, seeing as how his hair isn't really free to flop about, being trimmed short and in any case, apparently soaking wet, as are his shoulders. He's not a particularly attractive man, bad fashion sense aside, but what can you expect from a german? Sorry. Am I late? * Marcus shakes his head. "Like I said, you're working for SAB. I have yet to meet anyone with SAB that wasn't more than they appeared to be." * Warlow nods. "Try not to make a habit of it. And I'll trust you're capable of handling your introductions once again." Eh. I suppose if you count concealed weapons it works out. Aheh. Sorry. It really wasn't my fault that my upstairs neighbor's pipes burst. * Kurt runs a hand through his hair, collecting water and flicking it onto the sidewalk. Awfully inconsiderate of 'em. * Kurt turns to Red and offers his hand. "Kurt Petros. Pleasure to meet you, miss." * Warlow looks Kurt over and then shrugs. * Zegone is now known as Zegon (Whoo, go IC Zeg.) * Red shakes Kurt's hand. "Red. Much easier than the real name. I'm new, so don't take it bad if I don't recognize you, Kurt. You here to join the party?" * Zegon is now known as Kendrick Yeah, I'm sorta new around here. Just got out of school, so to speak. * Kurt doesn't look particularly young. He could easily pass for 30. Ah. Congrats on graduation, then? You go get good an' drunk to celebrate? No way. What kind of graduation is that? You can't have a proper graduation without getting drunk. Oh? Why not? * Red looks up. How many floors would he have had to drop to land where he did? I don't drink. At least... not much. [Most of the buildings around here are three to four stories tall. You're near the edge of the city.] Not a bad way to live, really. Not that I live by it at all, but I applaud you for it. *claps lightly* * Kurt looks sheepish. * Marcus extends his hand to Kurt. "The name's Marcus." * Kendrick arrives after parking his ride in the garage. He looks a bit rushed, but still fairly calm. He waves over at Red and Marcus, jogging the rest of the distance. "Looks like the party's here. Who's the newbie I haven't met yet?" * Kurt takes Marcus' hand, if such is possible, and gives it a nice FIRM shake. Who're you calling a newbie? * Marcus decides Kurt's shake is a little too firm and goes insubstantial and pulls his hand out. * Kurt shows no outward surprise at this, strangely enough. Ah. 'Ello, Kendrick. I'd point a gun at you in greeting, but the others might take it wrong. * Marcus waves to Kendrick * Kendrick smacks Marcus on the back of the head. "Quit showing off. And I'm calling you a newbie." He points at Marcus. ( points at Marcus? o_o? ) * Warlow gives a slightly offputting grin now that everyone is here. "Alright, that's the crew. Quick check before I go, any of you good at preventing mental invasions?" (err, Kurt. My bad.) Dude. There's no call to walk around calling people newbies. * Red sighs and mutters something as Marcus vanishes again. Then she blinks. Mental invasions? (Marcus vanishes?) (insubstantial and invisible are two separate powers) * Kendrick raises his hand. "Only one out of maybe a thousand telepaths can get in here... Unfortunately." He points at his head. Telepathy, mind control, vampires are known to have some strengths in that department. Sorry, afraid I utterly failed the mental combat portion of the training. Just no talent whatsoever. Well, that's right lovely. I don't suppose tinfoil helmets keep 'em out? So... um... vampires. Anybody got, like, a broom or something? * Kendrick pulls out a magnum, trading the normal 'munitions for blessed bullets. "No." Oh well. I suppose I'll just have to improvise something. * Warlow shakes her head. "If you don't have any religious objections, I'll have the Archbishop of Canterbury praying for you lot, but some things require extra precautions." * Kendrick smiles at Warlow. "If I'm not dead yet, I must be doing something right." Prayer never hurts. * Red nods at Kendrick. "What's the the bullets?" * Warlow smiles back for a moment and then takes out a small scrap of paper and hands it to Kendrick. "Read it alone, then destroy it." ( -the +with ) * Kendrick takes the paper and reads it, carefully commiting it to memory. "Blessed bullets." * Kendrick holsters his weapon and pulls his jacket over again. Ah. I'll prolly have to pick some up. Normal lead not work on vamps? Not in my experience. Although your milage might vary depending on the kind and strength. How good are vamps at controlling what they can't see? * Red shrugs. "Guess there's only one way to find out, then." * Kendrick pops out a lighter and burns the message, stepping on the ashes. "They don't need to see you. Most can smell you." Ultrasonic location isn't outside of their realm either. * Warlow gets on her bike and nods at what Kendrick says. "Invisibility will help, but it's no panacea." * Kurt snorts. And if they can't see you or smell you? Ah. If I'd known I would be sniffed out, I'd wear some perfume. * Marcus mutters quietly to himself. "I may have to work on that, then." * Kendrick chuckles. "Then hope to god they don't go looking for your mind anyways." So... kill them first, basically? Works for me. * Marcus looks thoughtful. "Maybe I can play dumb. I'll just think of that old song "Who let the dogs out?" over and over." Yes. Remember not to kill the Thralls. So, uh, how do you tell the difference? Thralls? Lemme guess. You can tell you've killed a thrall because he doesn't come back? * Kendrick laughs. "Thralls are humans under vampire control. And yes, when dead, they don't come back." ( Winamp: Treat or Goblins ) I'm going to get going, go ahead and pick which vehicle or vehicles you're taking. There's radio jammer in the garage as well as headsets for all of you. Turn off the radio jamming off after the first minute of the mission. As by that point the second group will have started and you may want to communnicate. Where exactly is the accident being arranged? I haven't been filled in on the details there. Care to explain, Warlow? * Warlow points at a very nice looking row house across the street. Basic idea, Ambulance gets here, probably sends out the thralls since it's daylight, at which point you turn on the radio jamming and blow them to hell. * Kendrick nods. Oh, is that all? How do we tell their ambulance from a real one? Prolly a private ambulance. Do we have a liscence plate number? Just in case a real ambulance by some stroke of misluck gets here first? * Warlow nods. "And, there may be an elder vamp, careful of him.. or her. Oh, that's our department, we've got spotters to avoid that. And the fake one has armor plating." Yeah. You'll know the fake one because bullets will bounce off of it. Wonderful. Parts of it, that is. Do we blow up the ambulance, or do we just pick off the former people inside? If we're just blowing up the ambulance, I can prolly do this from my car. Otherwise I'll have to lug a piece around in plain view, which I don't much care for. We blow up the ambulance. If we can. They'll be sending the thralls in. And we don't want to kill the thralls. Do I have that right? * Kendrick nods. Chances are we won't be able to take it out anyways, with lady luck bein' the way she is. * Warlow nods. "You do, and blowing up the ambulance is fine, but if they escape the inital sortee, picking off the occupants may be the safer course, don't want to blow up any buildings." If that's the case, we need to chase it down. * Warlow nods again. Chase it? Also doable from my car. Kendrick has a good grasp of the situation, so if you don't have any more questions, I'll be off. Call for the emergency when you're ready. * Kurt grins. "I'm starting to feel like a hound already." Go ahead, ma'am. So, Kendrick. What's the preference here? ...down, boy. * Kendrick nods and eyes Kurt. "I have silver bullets too. Don't make me use them." I know your specialty Red. What are you two good at? * Kendrick looks at Marcus and Kurt. * Red blinks. "What, another werewolf already?" * Warlow revs her engine for a moment, and then speeds off. They're more common than either of us would like to believe. * Kurt grins sheepishly. Kendrick: getting you into Red's apartment. Have you forgotten already? No. I was wondering if you could do anything else. Do you know how to use a gun, for instance? I kill people, steal things, people, and information. That sorta thing. chuckes. "I figured that bringing an anti-tank weapon would have been overkill." Actually, that would have been nice. * Kurt doubletakes. I really, REALLY hope we don't need an antitank weapon. Yes, I'm questioning my earlier line of thinking now. An anti-tank weapon would have gotten through the armor plating on that ambulance, and then some. Oh well. We'll have to make do without. * Red eyes Kurt. "You too, hm?" Me too, what? * Kurt looks confused. As for getting through armor, I have rounds designed for that. I can fire a gun, but I'm a pretty bad shot with handguns. Didn't get any training. And this is assuming there aren't vulnerable areas left unarmored. I meant the part about killing people, Kurt. But never you mind. * Kendrick starts walking to his car. "I'll be looking from afar. I have nothing that'd be useful in this situation. Red, you can snipe their asses to hell and back. Marcus, you can either spot or stay in one of the vehicles." Killing people is easy. It's _not_ killing people that ends up being trouble. If it comes to it: who's driving? Heh. An interesting philosophy. I'm taking my car. It's good for chases. One of you can come along if you like. I'll be riding with you then, Red. If you don't mind, that is. Not at all. You can pass me candy from the glove compartment. So... who's got room for me? Assuming it comes to a chase, mind. * Marcus raises an eyebrow * Kendrick nods. "I'll be in my car. I have room for you, if you want. Just don't drool over the dashboard." ...why would I drool over the dashboard? And are you a good driver? I've asked many people that question, and yes. Okay, fine. I'll ride with you, then. (Naw, cutting it off for people who need sleep. As for starrt time, we'll work it out right after end.) (How far away are we from the house?) (10 ms or so.) ( Ten milliseconds? ) (10 m rather.) ( Phew. ^_^; ) C'mon, Marcus. You're co-pilot. See the rest of you after this is over, natch. * Kendrick nods to Red. "Happy hunting." * Marcus turns to Red. "Where'd you park?" * Red nods. "Thanks." She walks back over to where she's parked, making sure on the way that it's in easy view of the place where the ambulance is expected to park. (Oh, and quick check, you guys have convertibles, or will you be firing from windows?) * Kendrick makes his way to his parking spot too, making sure his vehicle is in a spot where he can easily see them, but also can peel out quickly. (Convertible.) ( Windows. Have a bracket installed for it. ) (And Red, describe your sweet ride. ~_^) [The Garage does have line of sight on where the ambulance should pull up, and is slightly hidden, but means you'll be a little extra distance behind while giving chase. There's also the radio jammer and headsets waiting in the garage.] * Red opens the front of her car, where the hood would normally be, and takes out her red rifle. The car itself is sleek and clearly race-inspired, with massive rear tires and clean lines all over. (The car is red, I take it?) (Of course!) ( Hell yes. ^_~ ) Nice car. I see you have a red motif going. ( One sec and I'll find an image. ) (Oh, for every extra 20 kph you get from mods, add a -1 to your driving checks when speed matters. ) (I'll specify when speed matters. Normally it'll be more about acceleration than max speed) (What's the speed limit in this neighborhood?) * Kendrick is in a red car. It's a sports car all right: Convertible with comfortable seating for four, actually. His car was not race inspired, but if anyone cared to look at the speedometer they'd notice that instead of going to 200 kph, it goes to around 300. ( Who cares? ^_~ ) ( http://www.canadiandriver.com/news/02images/gt-40_2.jpg <--Same car, but all red. ) ( Nice. ^_^ ) (Speed limit? What's that?) (Nice car) ( Dude. You have a canadian car. U R SUX. ) ( Do not. c.c ) ( Well, your picture's on a canadian site. ) (Common speed of traffic in the city, we'll say, is below 50 kph. But if traffics not an obstacle, potentially much faster than that.) ( 'Around 300'? Lame. ) (Hey, I didn't take a car that's not street legal. :P( (And actually, it'd be more around 360...) [Radio jammer and headsets continue to wait comfortably on the garage floor. (oh. right. I knew I was forgetting something.) Um... anybody know how to work that jammer thing? * Kendrick grabs the jammer and headsets, handing two to the other car and throwing one to Kurt. "What do you think?" * Kurt shrugs and puts one of the headsets on hesitantly. * Marcus puts the headset on and turns it on. ~ I think the headsets are working, yes? ~ * Kendrick puts it on. ~No shit Sherlock.~ ~Shall we place the call~ ~ Well, you never know. I've been given faulty equipment before. ~ * Kurt blinks. ~Hey, these are pretty cool. They'd make missions so much easier.~ * Kurt is grinning widely, like a child with a new toy. ~Hey, Kurt, attention on the mission.~ ~ Random, yeah, go ahead. I think we're about ready here. ~ ~ Or will be by the time company shows up. ~ * Red puts her headset on. ~Testing, blah blah.~ * Kendrick sets up the jammer. ~Ready.~ * Red has a seat in the driver's side seat of her car, unfolding a bracket from the side of the door and resting the tip of her rifle on it. ~Check, remember to turn on the jammer before you attack. Sorry the headsets won't work while it's on, but.. that's kind of the point.~ (I assume the driver's seat is facing the house?) ~Kurt, if we need to chase, I'll drive by and pick you up. What's the fastest speed you can jump into the car on?" (Yeah) ~ ~Fastest? I'm not sure. How fast can you go?~ ~Faster than you.~ ~*snicker*~ (Oh penalties to remember. Fire while driving, +8. Fire while riding +2 to +4. -1 bonus for the convertible taking shots, but Red's car by comparison will grant some extra cover.) ~You think? Well, just go by at whatever speed you like. If I can't jump in, I'll catch up.~ ~Suit yourself.~ * Red whistles to herself while waiting. (Hearing checks. HA counts) * Kendrick watches, keeping his police band radio on. ( Made. XD ) ( Made by a LONG way. ) (If you make you hear... distant sirens. Big surprise. :P) ~Tell me when you want to start. I'll hit the jammer whenever you're ready.~ * Kurt hops out of the convertible and stretches a little. ~Ah, our friends are almost here. Lovely. Let's give them a good surprise, shall we?~ (Oh and go ahead and roll init. Passengers can choose to take drivers init.) ~Will do, Kendrick.~ * Kurt leans nonchalantly against a wall. * Red waits for the ambulance to show. She's good at waiting, luckily. * Kendrick waits as well, his finger on the activation switch for the jammer. [Everyone can hear the siren now] * Kurt perks up a little. ~here she comes to save the day~ ~Heh. Don't think they'll agree, but let's see.~ [And about now the ambulance drives into view and screeches to a halt outside of the house. It's lights and klaxon still blaring.] * Red doesn't take aim, yet, waiting for the dupes to get out. ~ I'm gonna try to immobilize the ambulance. Hit the jammer now? ~ ~Roger that. Hitting the jammer.~ ~Hit it. Let's get dangerous.~ * Marcus turns to Red. "If you'll excuse me..." ~Remember, don't hurt the Thralls.~ * Marcus turns invisible and insubstantial * Kendrick turns on the jammer. * Red shrugs. "Bit early, but whatever. I think I can hit the transmission from here." [Then, the back door pops open and a man and a woman dressed as EMTs jump out. You can't see the inside from your angle, but you can see one guy in the drivers seat.] ( We dropping into init now? ) (No, we just aren't in it yet.) * Red waits for the wannabe-EMTs to get clear, and then looks into the sight of her rifle and aims for the transmission. Lessee, ambulances are rear-wheel drive, so... ~ I'm gonna try and cut the fuel line among other things, though I'm not sure how successful that will be. ~ [You only hear that if you're in vocal range. Jamming is on.] (I haven't gone anywhere quite yet, so, I guess only Red hears it.) Don't bother. I've got it easy from here, I think. ( Roll to shoot, O GM? ) [EMTs take a gurney out of the back and rush away from the ambulance. So go ahead and take the shot if you like.] Wait, give me a few seconds first. * Kurt heads out of the garage at a slow jog, turning his head slightly to watch the ambulance. Eh? * Red is still looking through her scope. "Make it fast, ghost-boy." * Marcus flies to the rear of the ambulance and stuffs the potato he brought into the exhaust pipe. * Kendrick is holding a cross and silently mouthing a prayer while they go about their work. ( *snerk* ) (It's little things like that that give the characters personality. ~_^) ( ^_~ ) (While I'm back here, I want to try and find the fuel line and cut it. What do I roll for that?) [Give me a stealth check (visual) Marcus. You're invisible, but they might notice the potato once you let go] [Oh, and mechanical (automotive)] (They might notice the potato that's stuffed into the exhaust pipe?) (Yes.) (this is.. body?) ( Not likely, but possible. ) (More likely they might so a few fragments that fell off as the potato was being stuff. Unlikely, but these are vamps] (and that's the check for the fuel line, which doesn't look to be successful) [Marcus can hear an almost deliberate sniffing sound from inside the ambulance.] * Marcus flies away from the ambulance at maximum speed (Vision checks. HA counts) (All of us?) (Yeah) ( Made. ^_^ ) ( Failed. Too focused, looking through the scope. ) (Bwahahaha!) [Anyone who makes notices the guy in front picking up his radio handset, and then a few seconds later making a gesture to the crew in the back.] * Red awaits word from Invisiboy. * Marcus will fly back to Red's car. "I'm done. Didn't get the fuel line, but their exhaust pipe is a bit stuffed." Hmm. One second. ~Marc said he stuffed the exhaust but that's it. Shall I disable the car more permanently?~ ( The headsets are out, doof. :P ) ( ...riiiight. ^_^ ) (Yeah, really.) * Kurt dashes incredibly quickly across the street, sending a fist rocketing into the driver's side window. * Red taps the trigger, producing a small 'click' that's the only sign the gun's been fired. (Oh, quick question, what exactly does the old bannana/potato in the exhaust pipe trick do? It prevents exhaust obviously, but what's the effect on the car) (And that's init) (It lowers performance because the exaust, which cannot be burned, cannot get out of the firing chamber.) (It'll stall the car.) [Kurt's roll] (That's going to mess the engine up. It will stall when they try and go anywhere.) ( Assuming, of course, that the pressure doesn't force the potato out, in a potato-gun effect. ) ( Eventually it stifles combustion, I think. I like my solution better. ) (If the car was off, they would not be able to start it.) ( Made by 7. @_@ ) (The ambulance wasn't, so I'll go with performance problems) (Pfft. That thing won't be able to do *anything* once the crew is done with its transmission.) [Kurt throws a successful punch, which...] [Knocks the vamp back a bit, much to his surprise. He then immediately disappears.] [Red's attack roll] ( Called shot to the transmission, and I do believe that's a hit. ^_^ ) (Oooooh yeah.) ( ...but I rolled with the wrong dice. Oops. c.c;;;; ) (Heh, fix that. :P) (Pfft. W-w-w-w-w-w-wasted!) ( ...that works. ^_^ ) (haha) ( *snerk* ) ( You're welcome, biyotch. Your ass is mine, now. ) (Now, the driver would normally roll defense... But as there IS no driver now.) [The bullet goes through the plating at the side of the car. The ambulance actually had started to move slightly with the punch, but there's suddenly a loud screeching sound as it peters along in first gear.] ( That means we've got one lame-duck car on our hands, ladies and gentlemen. ) [In init order] (It's going about 10 mph. This has a good chance of not lasting long) * Red aims for the area she assumes the gas tank will be in, now. Let's make some boom, kids. [Red, Kendrick, Vamp1, Marcus, Vamp2, Vamp3, Kurt] ( Since the round isn't lead, it probably *will* spark. o/` ) [Another bullet penetrates the armour. You aren't sure of the effect just yet.] [Kendrick]* Kendrick awaits for an explosion or something. Stuff is definetly happening down there. (Hold action.) * Red frowns. No boom? [A guy in a poncho races out of the ambulance and down the street. The instant he gets out in sunlight, the transparent poncho turns dark brown, probably obscuring peripheral vision, but those are the breaks.] [Marcus] * Kendrick kicks his car into gear and drives after the man in the pancho. "Not on my watch..." (Using my action to chase him down.) [Oh, and I forgot to mention. When I say racing, I mean it. Doing like 100 kph.] (!) (... Damn.) ( Good lord. ) Session Time: Tue Jan 13 00:00:00 2004 (Well, forget me doing that then.) (Well, so much for that idea.) ( I can get him once my turn rolls around again. ) * Kendrick curses. (Check. Your car is faster, but you lose a little time pulling out of the garage, ,you can't run him down just yet.) [Marcus] (Well, I'm pulling out anyways. Might as well get out so I can start chasing him down.) ( Color-change poncho. Impressive, vampire-man. ) [Kendrick's car starts after the fleeing vamp.] [Marcus] (Oh, and break nigh imminent) (Marcus delays his action until he see something useful he can do.) [The windshield of the ambulance suddenly shatters outward for no apparent reason.] (And yes, an explosion would be an apparent reason. :P) (That activating anyone?) (Oh, and Marcus should, for the record, recognize these ponchos from VVV, where they never color changed. But same look.) (Assuming no.) * Red raises an eyebrow, but it's not her turn yet. (Ah, ok. The player can't remember... should that mean something more than he saw the same ponchos there?) (That you're probably dealing with vamp security forces. So, not really, no. ;P) [A second later, there's a loud boom as the back of the van suddenly flies up as a fireball combusts beneath it...] * Red smirks, then takes aim for the fleeing vamp +. [As it reaches a 90 degree angle, another poncho wearing vamp comes flying out of the open back, goes another 10 m up in the air, and then lands on the pavement just in front of the ambulance. He for the record, is holding is shotgun, and seems none the worse for the wear.] [The pavement by comparison now has some deep cracks in it.] [Kurt's turn, and then cutting for time reasons.] * Kurt glances quickly around the street in front of the ambulance, knowing there's someone there _somewhere._ He reaches into the pockets of his cargo shorts and pulls forth two handfuls of long pointy dagger-like objects, hurling them in a wide spread at the area in front of the ambulance. [A few of the dagger-like objects disappear midair and there's a cry of pain.] [And I'll end on that] [Currently the ambulance is lying destroyed on the pavement.] [Vamp1 is invisible but just took some damage, Vamp2 is running away pursued by Kendrick's car with Marcus in it. Vamp 3 is by the ambulance and holding a shotgun.] [Red's turn!] (I'm in Red's car.) (Err. Yup! Quite right. [But, Marcus's location doesn't change the fact that it is Red's turn. :P] * Red continues aiming at Vamp2, and fires for the center of his torso. (Righto.) (Called shot to the heart) 2d8-7 (Hope lead works as well as a wooden stake.) ( And we have no dicebot. ) (Dicebot!) -herring.sandwich.net:@#sab2020- Grysar invited Dicesuke into channel #sab2020. * Dicesuke has joined #sab2020 (Oops) (Right, so normal +8 penalty for heartshots) ( Less six makes it a -2 penalty. o/` ) 2d8-7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-7) and gets 6. ( Made it. ) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Grysar (2d8) and gets 7. [Vamp2 drops is knocked backwards and lands on his back. Nice smoking cavity in his chest. Seems Red's shot managed to get through his armour just fine.] [Kendrick!] (About how far am I from the other vamps and fighting?) * Red allows herself a small smile. "Wooden stakes my foot." (About a unit either way) * Kendrick turns the car around, looking over the scene and trying to decide the best course of action. (Hold action.) [Kendrick, give me a hearing roll.] (HA counts) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kendrick (2d8) and gets 9. (Made it barely if it's mind.) (ND just went active in #besm.) * Kurt has joined #SAB2020 [Kendrick thinks he hears something by the edge of his car.] (Sweet!) (Hasn't even been your turn yet. ( Score. ^_^_v ) ( Sorry, had work. ) (Hmmm... Red, could you update Kurt please. ) ( Will do, boss. ) * Grysar sets mode: +v Kurt [Marcus's turn!] ( Pardon me if I seem a little strange tonight. It's because I'm drugged to the hilt. ) ( Which vamp is the one who's running away at top speed but visible? ) (He's dead.) (Well, gaping wound in the chest where his heart used to be.) * JexSemIdol has joined #SAB2020 (::blinks:: Was that the one Red shot?) (It was Vamp 2.) (Yup) (Got that wrong, but no matter) (From Marcus' previous experiences with vampires, how likely is it that the running away one is dead dead?) [Marcus saw some go dusty, but he also has seen a great deal of variation in vamps. He needs an occult check (spirits) to get more] 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Marcus (2d8) and gets 9. (Should I roll the same, Greg?) (If Kendrick is wondering. Sure.) * JexSemIdol has left #SAB2020 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kendrick (2d8-4) and gets 4. (But it's got one of those cloaks on, yes?) (Yeah) (How far away from him am I?) (Pretty far, Kendrick drove after him. The vamp with the shotgun who is still standing is a lot closer) (I'm going to fly over to him (invisibly) and try to rip his cloak off.) (Give me a body check.) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Marcus (2d8) and gets 5. (Speed specialty) [Marcus gets to the cloak in time to start pulling it up. The vamp's legs burst into flames.] * Red blinks as she notices the light. Wow, they sunburn fast. (Going to rip off enough of the cloak so that the rest of it bursts into flames too.) [As Vamp2's legs are on fire he groans, looks down at his chest, and then sniffing at the air manages to bring up a machine pistol he has in his left hand. He fires a volley at Marcus but loses his hold on the gun as he tries to make a second spray.] [Marcus needs a dodge at +1 penalty] (Machine Pistols! RAWK!) 2d8+1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Marcus (2d8+1) and gets 12. [Marcus flies back a bit in the air as three bullets get lodged in his chest. Hurts like hell.] (If that was using HP ammo, that's gonna hurt like hell.) ( ...ouch. ) [Vamp3 then runs for the garage and fires at Red's windshield as he approaches. She needs a personal or vehicular dodge. +2 on the vehicle as she's at a stop now.] * Red moves under the assumption that her car, beloved as it is, is easier to repair than she herself is. 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-5) and gets 3. (And Dicey likes you.) (Personnal, no da. ) (Leaving the car or switching seats? Either is fine. Oh and there should have been a +1, but that doesn't matter) ( Leaving takes her car out of the field of fire, so. o/` ) [Red opens the door and rolls out as her windshield shatters.] [Kurt!] ( So, where the bloody hell is this invisible vampire? ) (Gimme a hearing roll. HA counts) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-4) and gets 2. [Kendrick's car] ( Made by 5. ) * Red curses the Vampire silently. She has to get a new windshield imported from America! ( I'm sorry, Kendrick. ) (You'd better fskin' be.) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-4) and gets 4. * Kurt blurs as he dashes across the street, leaping ahead as he comes with five metres or so, coming to rest with his feet against something invisible right at the corner of Kendrick's car. He slaps his right palm down on whatever it is, then lifts it and leaps away. "KATON... DAIBAKUFU NO JUTSU!" * Red stops sighting the vampire through her scope just long enough to send an incredulous look in Kurt's direction. "Did he just shout an attack name?" (Hee.) ( Yes, yes he did. ^_^ ) ( And there's a very, very good reason for it. ) ( You couldn't afford to make it Silent? ) ("Wow. That's like shouting 'SECRET NINJA ATTACK FROM ABOVE!'") ( No. That's not a very good reason. ) * Ciara is now known as CiarAFK ( Hey, I'll bet the Vampire can't believe it, either. ^_~ ) [As Kurt leaps away and there's sudden burst of flame from the back of the car, which now has a convertable trunk. Well, not so much convertable as permanently open. Also, the back street apolstry, not so much there any more. Although there is now this cute collection of ashes.] Bloody hell! Sorry! He did! He shouted an attack name! [As the back lid of the trunk blows off, a backup windshield wiper fluid bottle is blown back at Kurt, it rips into pieces, leaving him nice and vaguely neon blue.] GAH. [And somewhere, someone at Llyod's of London just started crying.] [Red!] * Red looks at the vampire with the shotgun. "Can you believe tha'?" * Kendrick ducks down in his seat as that happens, so he doesn't get the ashes in his face. "Just be glad it's insured." it's also vengeful. * Vamp3 pauses thoughtfully. "Yeah, what the fuck, I've been fighting for a hundred fifty years, never actually seen that." * CiarAFK is now known as Ciara * Red waits for the Vampire to look in the direction of Kurt's shout and the fireball and whatnot, and then shoots for his heart. 2d6-7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d6-7) and gets 4. ( ^_^_v ) ( ^_^_v ) Caught yer nappin'. (That's just sick. You know that?) [Vamp3 hears it and tries to dodge, would have made it to, if he'd been looking in the right direction. He's blown back and also has a gapping chesthole.] [Kendrick!] ( What, that my shouting attack names has a purpose? Two purposes, actually. ^_^_v ) Sorry, dirty trick, I know. * Vamp3 doesn't say bitch. But the way the smoke comes out of his chest, it's sorta implied. * Ciara is now known as Aaron [And, still Kendrick. :P] * Kendrick pulls out his gun and fires it at the vamp who's burning up and visible and stuff and fires. "The Archbishop of Canterbury sends his greetings." 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kendrick (2d8-5) and gets 7. (Hey, I actually succeeded on an attack roll.) [Vamp tries to dodge, by sorta pushing himself down the pavement with his arms. It's almost kinda cute, for a second, then he's dusted.] [Marcus!] (How hurt does Marcus feel?) [That if he took another two hits like that, he'd be dead.] * Marcus decides that it might be best to lie low for the time being [Two hits meaning six more bullets to be clear. Still hurts like the devil.] (Still hurts like hell, though. Marcus is going to wait this round out and try and catch his breath.) * Vamp3 twitches a little and then tries to move up on an elbow. He fires at Red, but he's way wild. Doesn't even hit the car. (At least it's obvious how to kill them now.) [Red!] ( Again? ) (Yup. :P) * Red sighs. "I didn't even kill yer with it. Sorry, mate, lemme try that again." * Red shoots for his head this time. 2d8-7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-7) and gets -4. ( ...did I just crit? ) (No. You got a 3.) (Dicey would've told you if you'd critted. ;p) (Yup.) ( Dicey'll tell you when you crit. With a happy little message to wish you well. ) ( Ah. Figured he only did that on 2d6 rolls. ) [Vamp3's head is blown off, rolls into the sunlight, and burst into flames. About a second later, both parts collapse into dust.] [Out of init] (Nah. I've done 2d2 before.) (What happened to Vamp1?) (Explosive got him) ( And Vamp 2? ) ( The one that was running away, we mean. ) ( It just got a hole in its chest, so it's probably still going. ) (Hit by a blessed bullet.) (That one got dusted after I ripped his cloak off.) ( Ah, okay. ) (The blessed bullet no doubt helped.) [Red put a hole in his chest, legs burned up by Marcus, holy bullet finished him. Real team effort] (Always carry some on. ^_^) (on me, even.) * Kurt dusts his hands off. A job well done. Now how about we round up those thrall thingies, yah? Either killing the vampires broke their control, or... Good question. Will they be free now? They're just going to be stupid for a while. Either way, it shouldn't be too hard. * Marcus flies up into the air above the target house to see if he sees anyone fleeing the scene (Vision roll Marcus) * Kendrick turns off the jammer and checks the radio for any signals. * Red brushes glass out of her driver's seat. Can she see out the front of her car? 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Marcus (2d8) and gets 14. We got the thralls, get your vehicles in order, we're checking with headquarters. [Red can, as there's a gaping hole in the windshield.] Score! * Kurt fistjams. Roger that. * Red frowns. So much for safety glass. * Marcus floats back over to Red's car and turns visible, three bullet holes visible in his chest Anyone need a lift? The back seats kinda... screwed. * Ari has joined #sab2020 (Actually, wait, that was safety glass?) * Aaron has left #sab2020 (All glass in cars is saftey glass, Greg. :P) ( Pretty much all automobile glass is, nowadays. ) ( Government mandated. ) ( What he said. ) Sorry 'bout that. Aheh. (Oh, right. So nothing special. In that case, staying with it. This is a shotgun at close range. ) * Kurt hops in beside Kendrick. "Will this thing still move?" No prob. It's not the first time. Did you have to yell the attack, though? * Kendrick kicks it into gear, as it should still be operational. Eh. Least this way I can drive it to the dealership. * Red trots over to the others to see how they did. It seems pointless. It's like yelling 'Sneak attack.' * Kendrick waves at Red, giving her a 'thumb up'. * Marcus coughs. So, what now? I don't HAVE to yell it. * Red nods, and checks on Marcus. "Oi, Marcus. You alright?" But I generally do, for three reasons. * Kendrick drives over to each of the vampire death scenes and makes *sure* each one of them is dusted. I'll live. ~Hey, Red. Marcus okay over there?~ Need a hand up? * Red remembers her headset. "Well, he looks about as healthy as someone what's been shot can be." * Ari 's voice comes in over the radio. "Attention, please. This is headquarters. We are requesting that you join up with the other group to reinforce them." * Kurt snorts. "I bet they let the ambulance actually get moving. Any takers?" ~Alright. Get him in the car, the other group needs assistance. I'll meet you there as soon as possible.~ ~ I think I'm OK for now, just need to be careful till I can get these taken care of. ~ (And this is why I wear body armor.) * Red helps Marcus up anyway. "C'mon, we need ter go help the others." (Ditto here. ^_^_v) * Marcus nods ( This is why I dodge. :P ) (What do you think I was trying to do? :P) * Ari comes on over the radio again. "They're currently located in a commercial district to the north. It's about twenty blocks away." * Marcus gets into Red's passenger seat * Kendrick nods to Kurt. "If they have who I think they have, then yes. Ready?" I was born ready. Duh. ~Roger Ari. We're on our way as fast as possible.~ That's what I thought. * Kurt takes off his sweatshirt and wrings some wiper fluid out of it, then puts it back on. Do mind the glass. ~Good. We shall inform you if the situation changes. Headquarters out.~ * Kendrick accelerates the vehicle as fast as it will go to the Commercial District. * Red starts her car and takes it into the street behind Kendrick, since he presumably knows where he's going. She doesn't have trouble keeping up. [We'll say each block is 2 raises. And your base speed is 2 blocks a turn.] (That make sense?) ( Did you guys have raises explained to you? ) ( ^_^; ) (Kinda?) ( Uhm... about a week ago? I've forgotten. ;_; ) (Likewise. ^_^;) 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ari (2d8-5) and gets 8. ( Okay, say you roll 2d8-5 for a Driving roll. You can choose to take a voluntary penalty to your Driving roll for greater effect. Each +1 penalty is a raise. ) ( In this case, every two raises you successfully make gets you an extra block. ) ( If you FAIL a roll, though, you make no progress. Your'e stuck in traffic, or botch a turn, etcetera. ) ( And since speed matters, -1 per extra 20 kph from gadgets. ) * Kendrick types on a laptop with one hand when he's set in a high gear. It displays an overhead map with their location on it, according to the GPS system. (What about the extra 30 kph from Nitros?) (We'll say every other roll) (Gotcha.) (How 'bout having a race car instead of a sports car or passenger sedan?) * Grysar sets mode: +v Ari ( I mean, it's worth another 100kph. o/` ) (Yeah, but it's also not street legal.) (Race car would count if it's over base) (Right, so make your driving roll kendrick) (Or normally able to carry anybody else except the driver. ^_^;) ( This one is. o/` ) (And specify beforehand how many raises you want.) (Driving is what? Body, mind, highest, or both?) ( I'd use ACV. ) ( I've been using body. But I'll give you average if you want. ) (Pleeeease give me average. Target of 5 makes me sad with 2d8. ^^;) (Average it is) (Okay, Raise by 4, kick in Nitros.) 2d8-7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kendrick (2d8-7) and gets -4. ( You raise by 4 and still have a -7? Jesus FUCK. ) ( That's a lot of mods. ) (Very good car, and a driving skill of 4. ^_^;) ( Nice. ) ( Raise by 4 as well. ) ( That's my kinda car. ) 2d8-4 [Kendrick's car kicks into high gear, making a huge start. Anyone not wearing a seatbelt is feeling a little iffy at the moment.] * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-4) and gets 1. Holy BUDDHAJESUS. How many horses do you have under that hood!? * Kendrick uses the manual drive to his full advantage. "Never counted. They don't stop long enough for me to." * Kurt grins. "I could get to like this." [Red's car keeps up. Roaring like a kitty, as this is how a race car is supposed to be started. :P] * Ari is on the radio again. "Turn left at the next intersection. And hurry. Time is of the essence. I can't play traffic control for too long." ~Gotcha.~ * Red gets wind in her face. [As you approach the next intersection, it's blocked by two water barrels, which are suddenly raised by a lever mechanism, creating an openning for a turn.] (+2 penalty on driving roll. Breaks help) * Kendrick keeps going at an extremely fast rate, using all of the intersection so he can mantain a high speed while turning. (Raise by 4.) 2d8-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kendrick (2d8-6) and gets 6. (Victoly! ^_^) (... And I'm forgeting manual helps too.) ( Raise by four. And if Manual helps, that actually improves my roll. For this one. ) 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-5) and gets 8. ( Yow. Baaaarely made it. c.c; ) [Kendrick handles the turn perfectly, although the wind from the turn causes one of the water barrels to spill, lightly spraying Kurt and Marcus] * Kurt casually whips his head, spraying water off. [Closer call with Red, almost grinds the side, but she gets the turn at the last second and then accelerates into the turn, safely pulling away.] (Oh, and we're about 10 minutes from finish) ( That's okay, we just have to get there, ne? And then we pick up with a joined session? ) ~After the next block, turn right.~ ( Something like that. ^_^ ) [Same roll as last time] (Raise by 6.) 2d8-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kendrick (2d8-6) and gets 5. (Made it. ^_^) (And that's including the manual and the nitro bonus.) ( That's 14 blocks down, out of 20, by my count. ) (Roll Red.) ( Raise by 4, as I'm not suicidal and have neither nitrous nor anything to make up for it. ) 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-5) and gets 8. (Barely made it again. Dice must not like me anymore. c.c;) ( And 13 blocks down for Red. ) (Dice liked you in the first place? ;p) [Kendrick starts pulling ahead, as Red slows down a little so that she, doesn't crash. Good call!] ( Dice loved me during the fight. Where has the magic gone? ) (All used up.) You know... I'm sorta sorry I blew this car up. I wonder how fast it'd go if I hadn't. It's just superficial damage. You didn't hit any of the important stuff... other than the leather seats. ~Make a right at the next intersection. You should join up with the other group after that.~ Leather seats make it go faster? Just makes it more comfortable. And they're a bitch to get... This is the fifth seat I've gone through. [Same roll.] (Raise 4.) 2d8-7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kendrick (2d8-7) and gets 5. (Voot!) ( Raise 6. ) 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-5) and gets -1. (Where'd the sudden modifiers come from? ^^;) [Kendrick zooms along, but Red manages to pull up even. Just a straightaway left.] (I Decided to give something for race car. I'll work out the penalties in a bit, as it's a cost neutral modification) (Ooooh, okay.) (Makes sense.) * Kendrick goes for the straightaway! (Sense of choice roll. Everyone!) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kendrick (2d8) and gets 11. (Pfft, no.) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-4) and gets 10. Session Time: Tue Jan 20 00:00:00 2004 ( ... ) ( Hey, I had to buy mods to make it street-legal. ^.~ Neutral nothin'. ) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-4) and gets 12, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "If I go crazy, will you still call me Superman?" (Hmm.. true.) (Red thinks there's ghosts.) (Yeah. Definite dicehate.) ( Dice definitely-- yeah, that. ) (Did anyone make that?) (Marcus?) ( No. Marcus has yet to roll, however. ) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Marcus (2d8) and gets 6. (sorry, got distracted) [Marcus, as he doesn't have to concentrate on the road, notices a flock of bats coming in from above.] * Marcus ~ Uh, hey, what's up with those bats? ~ [Red however thinks she hears a siren from behind her. Stupid cops trying to pull her for speeding. :P] ~Hurry! Something's on it's way!~ (its way. Argh. ^^;) ~That cloud's trouble, but she doesn't do mind control. Red turn off and get her attention. Kurt, reinforce Red if you can.~ (Just do a line or two, don't worry about mechanices, I just need the transistion so I can start each seperately.) (And John, if you want, get to sleep, really. I'll work out the timing and IM you tomorrow. :P) * Red steps out of her car and looks around. ~Cloud? I thought it was-- oh, that's the noise. Right.~ * Kurt looks up. "Cheh. Bats. Whatta yutz.~ * Red makes sure she has her autoguns with her, in case this thing doesn't solidify any. [With Red's car stopped, Kendrick's is rapidly pulling away, with Kurt in it.] (Oh, and any word from Rowyn?) ( *blinks* I thought we were already there? ) ( NO. -_- ) (Heh, Sorry, oops.) * Kurt hops up in his seat, then flips back out of the car and is beside Red in a flash. (There we go. Right, Marcus and Kendrick if still around can make any comments. Otherwise.) (Uh, -_-, what's that mean in this context? :P * Red looks at Kurt. "Itchin' fer more action?" ( It means mild irritation. But everything's gonna be okay. ) ( Let's just go. ) ( Im' good for another half hour atl east. ) (Let's go to new Init then) [Kendrick and Marcus pull safely away) 2d8+11 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8+11) and gets 21. 2d8+29 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8+29) and gets 39. ( Could you go a little faster? :P ) (29?) ( Yes, actually. I could've rolled a 16. ^_~ ) [The swarm of bats is coming closer, it's actually pretty massive, a two dozen dozen you'd say. Almost looks like a solid cloud from here.] [Red!] * Red shrugs, and experimentally fires her rifle into the heart of the cloud. Not really a called shot-- she's just seeing if something's there besides bats. 2d8-9 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-9) and gets 1. [A bat falls to the ground.] [Otherwise, no apparent change, cloud doesn't seem any smaller.] [Kurt!] Guess not. * Kurt looks thoughtful for a moment, then tosses a handful of long sharp pointy bits of metal into the cloud of bats. 2d8-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-6) and gets -3. ( That oughta take 3 of 'em down. ^_^ ) (Way I'm handling autofire and spreading. One per autofire hit (they don't get a defense roll) spreading doubles. That still three?) ( I dont' have autofire, just spreading. two extra targets. ) ( Unless you want to straight double it, in which case it's 2 bats. ) [Three more bats drop, the cloud the descendings on the two of you enmass, each bat screeching resulting in a hateful caucaphany from the red eyed vermin. Ranged (personal) defense rolls] (Naw, the doubling only makes sense with autofire) 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-5) and gets -1. 2d8-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-3) and gets 3. [You manage to dive under the cloud, causing it to miss you.] [Red!] * Red sets her rifle down while she ducking, and pulls out a pair of MP5K5s, using them to spit a cloud of lead at the cloud of bats. 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-5) and gets -1. 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-5) and gets 1. ( h_h ) ( ^_^_v ) [A much larger group of bats drops, the cloud actually gets a bit smaller this time] [Kurt!] WELL. This is interesting. Is it, now? Absolutely. Well, I suppose you don't get to fight a cloud a bats every day. Or did you mean something else? Something else. 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-4) and gets 8. ( -_- Damn you, Dicey. ) * Kurt blurs into motion and launches himself up through the cloud of bats, but underestimates the bats' prowess at evading flying objects and comes flying out the other side. Aww. Better luck next time, right? * Kurt catches himself on the side of a building and hops down to ground level again. "Something like that! [The bats suddenly spin up into a loop and coalesce into a single female figure wearing a flowing black robe and possessing bat wings, she's got a fair feral look about her as she swoops down and attempts to grab Red from behind.] [Red needs an unarmed (grabs) roll.][ 2d8-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8-1) and gets 14. ( ... ) ( Ouchie. ) ( I guess I've been grabbed. c.c; ) [Red doesn't see it coming and is lifted rapidly into the air by the creatures pumping wings.] ( Actually, I think that should've been -2. But still way the hell off. ) Gyah--! Hello, aren't we getting cozy now? [Red! Who is now 10 meters in the area, but can still attempt an roll to escape the arms or some other attack if she likes.] [Is a penalty on most attacks though.] ( How high did Kurt jump before? ) (Take the AF gun and unload it straight in her face.) ( Very. ) ( That's the plan. Although it'll prolly leave my ears ringing something fierce. ) * Red points one gun rearward towards until she feels the point touch something, opens her mouth so she doesn't go deaf, and holds down the trigger. ( Penalty? ) (+4 I'll say, as you aren't pinned against anything) ( Don't suppose any of my combat abilities help against that any? ) ( Naw, none of those are apropos) 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d6-1) and gets 4. ( Succeeded by 5. ) [The vampire screeches out in pain and shifts again to a swarm of bats, but not before being hit, so there's a good deal less bats now.] [Kurt!] * Red falls? c_c ( ...Red is now falling. Oh dear. ) (Well, considering she can't fly, yeah, gravity is kicking in.) ( And if she was 10 meters up, that's 30 feet. ) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-4) and gets 4. [Red meanwhile is plummeting from the sky. Still Kurts turn. Maybe he can grab her in time and attach and explosive to her.] (Mwehehe.) * Kurt blurs into motion once more, crossing all the way across the street, stopping in an instant near where Red is about to hit the ground. He crouches, and before the momentum is spent, he leaps, rocketing straight upward into the much smaller cloud of bats. Somewhere in the middle, he reaches out to touch a bat. "KATON!" A moment later, he rockets out of the top of the cloud, turns to face downward, and finishes. "DAIBAKUFU NO JUTSU!" ( Sorry, Red. Gotta kill the vampire. ) * Red actually blinks while falling. "Again with the--shit." ( That's okay, Kurt. Because I can find out where you live, reaaaaal easy- like. ) [About a hundred bats fall out of the cloud, well, not so much fall, as are vaporized.] (Actually, make that 200) ( That's a fucking lot of bats. HOw many are left? ) (Swarm = weakness to AE.) ( Yep. As I discovered in BH. ^_^ ) * Red would applaud, but she's busy falling to her death. "Join the army, they said. See the world, they said." (Well, you get 1 bat per HP per level.) [There's probaby about 50 left] ( Wow. She's gotta be, like, just about dead. ) (Sounds about right. And resistant to sunlight, to-boot.) ( Yeah. Jeez. ) [Red meanwhile hits the ground, and familarizes herself with basic principles of physics and coming to sudden stops.] (*wince*) ( It's only 30 feet. ) (Give me a body roll Red ) (...) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Red (2d8) and gets 6. ( Wow, I actually made it! So my legs shatter instead of my skull? ) [Red manages to land with her legs down and quickly transfer the momentum into a roll. Her legs now officially hate her, and her right ankle isn't going to be doing that walking thing unassisted for a while.] * Red does not bother getting up. If wolf-boy wants to fight that bad, he can do it his own bloody self. [Meanwhile the bat swarm looks like it's about to starts flying up, apparently satisfied that it's taken enough of a beating for today.] [Red!] [Kurt!] ( I pass on this turn, unless I need to get off the road. ) (Assuming Red is staying down?) (Check) * Kurt is still flying through the air. He straightens himself out, brings his hands together in front of him, clasped in a figure reminiscent of prayer, but with only two fingers straight. One shout of "HENGE!" and a poof of smoke later, there's a falcon winging its way quickly after the bats. [The bats recoallece again, though now the creatures wings are slightly torn and it has multiple gashes in it's face. It dives down to bit Kurt. Who needs a unarmed defense roll. 2d8-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-3) and gets 5. ( Made. ) [The brave little falcon soars out of the way, noticing the distinct smell of burning flesh as it does so.] [Kurtt!] ( Goddess. How far are we above the surrounding buildings? ) [About level with the top of these seven story buildings. They're taller than where you started.] ( Hoo boy. ) * Red uses her communicator, while she's at it. "Ello? Red here. Gonna need an ambulance. Preferably not one full of vampires and their thralls." ~Already on the way.~ * Kurt backs off a bit and then flies straight at the vampire at top speed, transforming just a moment before he arrives, sending out a puff of smoke as he launches a high speed flying (literally!) kick. 2d8-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-6) and gets 2. [Vamp takes the hit and is slammed back into a nearby building.] ~Thanks. I'm afraid I won't be continuing this sortie, unless you want to have someone push me around in a wheelchair. Which would actually be funny.~ * The nigh dead creature wraps it's wings around Kurt and pushes off the building, as it does so, she whispers. "I know how to come back... do you?" [That's a grapple defense roll Kurt!] 2d8-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-3) and gets 9. ( Missed. Bugger all. ) (Dicesuke says you don't kick ass anymore.) * Kurt is grabbed. "I've never tried." [The vampire, while actually catching on fire, tries to instill Kurt with a greater sense of empathy. Holding him tight as she plummets to the ground.] [Kurt!] [Oh, and the whole vamp on fire thing is buring Kurt, as you might expect. But, somehow I don't think that's his biggest worry.] ( Aheh. ) * Red grins and mutters something about what goes around and what it does afterwards. * Kurt grins at the vampire and then slams his head into her nose as a parting shot. 2d8-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8-6) and gets 2. ( Apply as much penalty as you like. I don't mind if it hits or misses. ) (Right, He doing anything about the whole ground thing? As that'll be immediately after the turn?) ( Not really. ) [Vamp gets smashed in the face, doesn't even seem to be worried about defending, perhaps not even alive at this point, hard to tell with the fire.] [And ground. Body roll Kurt!] ( ~praypraypray~ ) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kurt (2d8) and gets 8. ( BARELY missed. Damn you, Dicey. Does Acrobatics count? ) (Yeah, I suppose it would. (That's a make by two then?) ( Then I made it by one. ) [Kurt manages to spin the body of the inert vampire as he lands, splattering the charred remains on the street as he rolls off of it. He's not really feeling much of his limbs, but hey, one out of four ain't bad.] GUH! [Meanwhile the vampire seems to be an adherant of the "Live long, reincarnate often, and leave a smoldering corpse.] * Kurt tries not to roll around, since it only makes the hurting worse. [And, as ambulance pulls up, that's a wrap.] How ya feelin', Kurt? Ouch. (Feel free to chatter a bit, but don't blame me for tiredness. :P) Good. Think about that feeling before you let someone drop next time, right? Sorry 'bout that. I'm sorta used to working with people who laugh at three story falls. Lord almighty, I haven't felt this bad since I took a spinning piledriver just to prove I could. Spinning Piledriver? That some drink? Sounds good about now. No, that's a martial arts move. You know, like pro wrestling, only spinning when you hit? Oh. Well, I could still go fer a drink. [At this point some apparent nonthralls show up and very very carefully using appropriate medical techniques get you on gurneys.] I could, too. UNGH> * Red winces a little, but soldiers through. "Right. So drinks right after our bones knit." Hey, we took down the master, though. At least... I _THINK_ that was the master. I _HOPE_ that was the master. Dear lord, what if that _wasn't_ the master? If that wasn't the master, there's someone else I have to kill. No biggie. [Medics go to work, some seem impressed by your chatter.] ( Hey, even if all our other limbs are broken, our jaws still work. ) Hope whoever picks up my rifle treats it right. So... you think that was the master? ( * Kendrick picks up Red's rifle and looks it over. "Definetly Red's. I'll just... hang onto this." o/`) No. If it were the master he'd be sitting somewhere where nobody could touch 'im. Wouldn't risk fighting someone who might know how to kill it. Although this one may come back anyway, I don't know how it works. (Oh, and just as a side note, any resemblence of the bat form of that vampire to a bat form in the van helsing preview is strictly coincidental. :P) ( Never seen it. ) (The movie that is, not the anime) (Came out recently, got linked to on Penny arcade I think. Or maybe elsewhere. Like march or something) Right. See yer in the hospital, then? Yeah, something like that. [End]
