[Date: September 3, 2020. Time: 1500 Local time. 700 GMT] [This investigative team was rapidly gathered the previous evening and sent on a flight to Jakartra, Indonesia] (That reminds me, I need to finish the SABish verson of Taki...interconenental teleport XD) [SAB's resident librarian, a Chinese woman in her forties, has accompanied you as she knows Malay. Most of you probably slept on the flight, given it's an overnight one.] [Detail were rather sketchy when you initially left, a briefing was promised when you arrived.] [When your fairly small jet arrives, there's a van waiting on the tarmac.] [Start] * Angel stretches as she steps off the stairs. Good GOD! It feels good to walk again. Show me to the showers. I need to wash the air-funk off me. * Tim yawns as he gets out of the jet, "It's too early in the..." -checks the sky- "afternoon to be awake." * Ben steps out of the jet and immediately takes out a cigarette, lighting it with a match. 'F***ing non-smoking flights,' he mutters. [For the record, you're on an airstrip some distant from the main terminal, other planes are landing and taking off so it's fairly loud. There's still some mist in the around, which obscure the guys running around with flight directing cones.] ( Suddenly, the tarmac eats you! ) * Angel looks to Ben. "Fuck! Can I bum one of those?" 'Sure.' Ben holds out the package. * Angel grabs one and reaches for Ben's glowing stick to light her own. Thanks. * Mai walks off the plane, she's in rather sensible field gear, has on a backpack, and doesn't seem to particularly care about her appearance otherwise. * Ben, incidentally, is in a grey suit and tie, as usual. 'So, anyone got a clue what we're doing here? Preston said something about werewolves when he called to tell me to get on this flight, but that's all I know.' * Angel is dressed in the standard black and red leathers. * Tim is wearing a t-shirt and a pair of kahkies, and still has orange hair, but his roots are starting to show black. [The weather is fairly warm and the humidity is rather high, although you're in the southern hemisphere, so it's not the height of summer.] * Tim shrugs, "That's about all I got told." You know? This may not be the best outfit here. I'll have to hit the shops before we get going. * Saldin walks out of the mist, and blinks once as he sees the group of people. He looks male today, and surprisingly abnormal, for the people who have seen him before. Today it's a white shirt and white chinese pants he is wearing. * Tim grins, "I'm sure we'll find lots of people willing to sell you anything you want. And only twice the cost too." (You can look at the page if you want the full description. You can only type it out fifteen billion times before it gets old. ^_^;) (So he has hands now?) (Yes! Actual hands!) * Mai closes her eyes for a few seconds and then opens them again and a small book appears in her hands. "I'll have some details to tell you on the way to the briefing. I'm afraid time is rather of the essence, so unless you want a army gear, changes of clothes will have to wait." 'Saldin,' Ben calls by way of greeting. 'I see you got rid of the tentacles.' * Tim blinks and looks over at Saldin, "This mean you got that curse thing taken care of?" Always the weirdos here. Either working with them, or against them. Aren't there any normies around anymore? Sheesh! * Ben turns to the other SAB people and indicates Saldin with a gesture. 'In case you don't know him, he's okay. Don't worry, the SAB checked and he does, indeed, have a tattoo.' * Saldin nods at Ben, then says, "No, not quite." He then smiles very faintly at Ben's joke. As long as I can get back into this before we head home, I can afford the army fashion while I'm here. Leather plus humidity equals chafing. Just not fun. * Mai then walks up to the van and opens the doors, and takes a seat. She looks over to Saldin as he walks up. "Alright, everybody in the van, you too Mr. Qian, or Saldin if you prefer." Right in the van. I think we can do that. * Tim nods to Mai as he gets in the van. * Saldin says to Mai, with a pleasant smile, "Whatever works the best for you, miss." * Mai starts rapidly flipping through the book in her hand while everyone else boards. She smiles back at Tim and Saldin. * Ben climbs into the van. * Angel takes off her jacket and walks stiffly to the van. "Shower soon. Period." * Saldin eyes the van for a second, then gets in the van too, which involves taking off the pack of stuff he has on his back and holding it in his lap. * Ben rolls down a window next to him, and attempts to direct the smoke from his cigarette out it. (There a driver in this van?) So, Mai. I'll need the new kit, a pack of fags, and a place to wash the recycled air off of me. Can do? * Mai closes the door and the driver, an indonesian male in army fatigues, somewhat handsome, gets driving. * Ben reaches into his pocket and removes an entire unopened pack of cigarettes. He hands it over to Angel. 'Here.' * Mai nods. "Can do, we'll have time for that." One out of three, that's a good start. (Ben's inventory lists four packs of smokes on him at all times. Seriously.) (Good to be prepared, I guess. >_>) * Angel slaps Ben on his back. "Well done. You're on the good list." [The van initially is driving down fairly crowded city streets, there's a lot of bustle of commerce going on around you and a mix of languages, some you don't recognize, some English and Dutch.] Any chance for a ride while I'm here? Mobility's big on my style. (Come on, anyone would recognize Bahasa Indonesia or Javanese.) * Saldin seems to be enjoying looking out the window. (My uncle's from Bali! ^___^) We're here because apparently a new strain of lycanthrope has emerged, there's been a rather unpleasant epidemic last night on a remote island, one that may have originated from a British tourist. Wait, wait wait... Epidemic? Last night? * Saldin hmms. That can't be good. 'Speedy response time.' 'Which island? What part of Indonesia?' * Mai nods. "No, it isn't. And yes, we're treating this as a threat for a major outbreak, speed will be key to maintaining it." * Mai looks over to Ben. "A rather small one, about 100 kilometers south east of here. We'll be traveling the rest of the way by helicopter as there is no landing strip on the island." 'Okay. What's the island's population?' Guess that rules out a ride. Got silver? Or are these wolves different from myth, just like those damned vamps? * Ben pulls out a clip of silver bullets. 'That depends on the species. The last one I ran into didn't like silver, but I understand it varies.' * Tim nods, "Not everything works the way it's supposed to." Had been a few hundred, apparently now down to fifty or less. Didn't help that this area was badly hit by a particularly resistant bacterial disease about a month ago. Indonesia as a whole took it pretty hard. * Ben turns to Mai. 'So, with regard to these particular hostiles, the lady's question stands. Any word on silver response?' * Mai looks over to Ben. "They appeared to be quite resistant to normal bullets, but the initial force that tried to put down the epidemic didn't have any silver on hand, so we're not sure." * Saldin is frowning slightly to himself now as he looks out the window.* [You're now getting out of the city, the area around is starting to look more slummy although that's quickly giving way to more natural surrounds.] * Tim nods, "Any chance the rest of us could get before we get there, just in case it does work?" 'Fifty or less?' 'That's pretty darn small. Has sterilizing the entire island been considered?' * Mai nods. "Although the initial troops, and a medical group that had been on the island before the epidemic are currently being quaranteened there. So there is more than just the islanders." Who are potential liabilities? Are they turning people, or just eating them? * Mai blinks at that. "Sterilizing... I." She then regains her composure. "The island isn't our problem, Indonesia is handling it the trouble is the tourist in question has already left, we're trying to get as much intel as we can to prevent what happened here from happening in England, or anywhere else." * Tim nods. 'Indonesia's handling it? How?' * Mai then looks over to Angel. "They are definately turning people, we're not sure about eating. And the Indonesian government has been less than forthcoming about the high casaulty rate." Ah. So, how many tourists go to this island? It shouldn't really be hard to track a few tourists, right? They need plane tickets, passports... * Angel looks to Ben. "They've called in outside experts. A team of supernaturals operating out of Singapore, we trust that they know there stuff." (I do?) (Mai does that. :P) * Tim nods. [Outside is now all natural and tropical, although most of the taller trees seem to have been cut down for wood. You do pass a military checkpoint and fence.] 'Oh, any word on whether these lycans can take human form? And when they do, do they retain their lycan priorities, or are they unaware?' * Mai then turns to Angel. "A fair number of these islands have old ruins and the ferry companies don't keep great records. But yes, we're already working on contacting any British citizens that could have been in that area at that time." * Saldin stops bothering to look out the window, and turns to Tim, and says in a friendly voice, "So, how is Yvonne doing?" (...ha.) * Ben smiles broadly at Saldin's question, but retains his focus on Mai. * Mai looks to Ben. "They seem only to be in wolf form while the full moon is up, as for the rest, the Indonesians haven't told us yet." * Tim blinks and then turn to Saldin, "She's doing well. Why do you ask?" (And by 'how is she doing', I mean, 'Have you broken the five-times a day mark on sex, you crazy crazy couple'?) 'F***. So, we don't know if they're to be considered active hostiles during the day?' [The van stops to pass another checkpoint and rapidly approaches a medium sized military base, there are a lot of soldiers moving around.] The Indonesians assure us that so long as we're off the island by moonrise, there should be little to no threat. Hell, _I'm_ considered hostile during the day, but I'm a good guy. * Saldin shrugs extremely slightly, and them smiles just as slightly. "She's... unique. I was simply curious." * Tim grins. 'Not hostile. Hostiles. It means enemy forces.' Ben. Smile a little, will you? Joke, funny, ha... ha. (Oh, Ben's going to love me. I can tell.) [The van pulls up and a soldier opens the door. Mai quickly gets out.] [There's a parked helicopter waiting on a nearby heliport] * Angel looks to the rest of the group and shrugs. "Guess this is our stop." * Ben turns to Angel. 'Oh. Right. Sorry, I'm just not crazy about this f***ing situation.' * Saldin steps out of the van. "I cannot argue with Ben's opinion, but if I am here..." * Angel jogs up to Mai, grabs her shoulder, and turns her around. "Shower?" (Ben's forgotten how to smile. He needs to take lessens from Jonathon) (Ben smiled when Saldin asked Tim about Yvonne.) * Mai calls over one of the soldiers and speaks quickly and confidently in Bahasa Indonesian. She then turns to Angel. "He'll get you what you need." * Angel snuffles and pinches her nose momentarily as she follows the soldier. * Ben turns to Tim. 'So, I heard Saldin asking you about Yvonne. I guess that means things worked out well with you two?' * Mai skims, really rapidly skims, through the volume she has in her hand. "Apparently, one of the group of Singapore mystics will be waiting for us when we get there. So, if anyone else needs to shower or change before we go, do so now." * Tim grins at Ben, "quite well." 'Glad to hear it.' * Tim then turns to Mai, "Got a map of this island?" [Local time: 1600] 'If we're going to wait around anyway, might as well grab a shower too.' Ben heads off. * Saldin doesn't seem to be moving, but he does seem to be thinking a little. (If this was a certain type of work of fiction, there'd be a wacky misunderstanding with Ben and Angel in the showers. If it was an anime, there'd be fanservice and Ben would get hit by a hammer.) (And if this were SAB, Frei would show up and tease them. Hrm.) (I am a hedge.) (hammer? wacky misunderstanding? This is SAB, mister: bullet to the head.) (I got it.) (Heh. Go on and shoot Ben.) (And I said, *if* this was an anime.) (I'm not offended. Angel's very private, though :P) * Mai opens the book to a map, showing a fairly small island. 20 km X 5 km. The main town is on the west side, there's a ferry stop a small distance away from town, and ruins in the wild portions. (Unfortunately the map is life-size) (It's a Capsule Corp. island. *BOM*) * Tim nods, "Anything with a bit more detale? The more I know about a place the easier it is for me to get around." (As long as it's not Umbrella Corp) * Tim looks at the map in the book. * Saldin closes his eyes for a second and then walks off in some random direction. (Now that would be a whole 'nother game.) * Mai closes her eyes for a moment. (Which one of you is the MASTER OF UNLOCKING?) * Tim eyes Saldin, "Of course some of us don't need that kind of help." * Mai then opens them again, and an atlas titled "A guide to Indonesian Islands" appears in her hand, she skims through it, finds the appropriate page, and then hands it off to Tim. (However, oddly, Saldin is needed right now in a Vegas casino...) (Woohoo!) (Don't woohoo just yet. Siegfried's starting up again without Roy and you were in his rolodex.) * Tim grins, and accepts the book, "That's such a usefull thing to be able to do." (I am not a stage magician! ;_;) (Lucky you! They work with tigers.) (Who said you'd be the magician? You're taking place of the tiger) * Mai smiles warmly. (*paws ineffectually at the air* Roar?) (Saldin: "Uh... meow." *paws the air*) (If it were Drew, that'd work even better.) (FF to everyone getting back from the showers and wandering off? * Tim looks over the new and improved map. * Ben returns. His hair is slightly damp. * Angel returns coiffed well. (No, Greg, the action just has to move to #showers for the next hour.) (...perhaps am sleepy. Totally saw "coffeed" insteadof "coiffed".) (Angel is on caffeine. I can see it.) * Tim hasn't moved much since people wandered off, he's sitting hunched over the atlas in his lap. * Ben exhales a long blast of cigarette smoke. 'So, kid, studied that map enough to make your way around over there?' * Saldin comes back with a bunch of purple, brown, and green plants in his arms, and some sticking out of his pack. From the other direction from the one he left. Weird. * Mai walks over to the helicopter and opens the door. * Angel climbs into the co-pilot's seat. I think so. No telling if I won't land in a tree, but enough that I should be able to hit the roads. ( Aw. Yvonne shoulda been in this session ;_; ) (Why? So she could screw Tim in the downtime? >_>) (Nah. To try and get the librarian to strip) 'When you say, land in a tree, do you mean amidst the branches or merged with the trunk?' ( Can't teleport around, Yvonne was distracting me. ;_;) ( Not happening) * Mai climbs in the helicopter. ...Not merged, just in, all the bits of the tree are where I used to be...It's NOT comfortable. * Ben climbs into the chopper as well. [For the record, it's a dark green fairly small one, mostly useful for transport, has a gun mount that currently is empty. * Tim closes the book and gets in the hopitycopter. * Saldin carries his plants cheerfully. He must have dug them himself, his fingers are all dirty. * Ben calls from the chopper, 'Well, kid, if you get stuck in a tree, we'll try to cut you out.' So, about that silver ammo... I can get myself out, thanks. 'Glad to hear it.' * Helicopter takes off once everyone is inside. (What altitude?) [Probably 100 meters above the ground, plus or minus.] * Saldin looks around as they fly with a smile. "A helicopter. They are even more fascinating than cars." Apparently there may be some on the island, but they don't keep it stocked at this base. (...Silver bullets on the island that they haven't USED yet?) (They got brought in by the reinforcements, during the day. :P) [Time: 1645 Local.] (I have a clip. There are probably better shots than Ben who'd make better use of it, so if we get in a fight, ask him for it. Ben can just go to grenades.) [The island in question comes into view, it's fairly small, with a few hills and lots of folliage on the wild part of the island.] [The harbor area is fairly rickety looking, and has several small boats in drydock, and a twenty person transport beached and apparently undergoing repairs.] (Oh, give me sight checks everyone. HA counts) (We can see people repairing it or do you just mean that's what we'd deduce from its state?) (Made.) (No one is repairing at the moment, you deduce from the state) (I think that's a made.) (Uh...no) [Those who make can also see where two troup transports pulled up, although it appears they aren't there now.] 'I can't believe they didn't destroy all the boats in harbour first thing. Do they want these f***ers getting onto the other islands?' [As you fly to the 'populated' part of the island, you can see a large red cross tent, a fair number off shanties as well as the occasional more permanent looking house. And what seems to be a store.] 'Mai, about that virus...' Maybe they're just hoping that they aren’t that smart or something...nah. [There's what large piles of tilled dirt a bit outside of town. Like 2 meters by 20 meters.] * Saldin says, with a tinge of annoyance in his voice, "You forget that this is not a fully military operation, Ben. This is humanitarian as well." [You see small patrol teams of four to five men wandering the island, no obvious civilians, and one figure wearing a heavy cloak.] What? 'My heart bleeds for those poor innocent boats I was just suggesting should have given their lives for the cause.' * Tim blinks at the cloaked on and mutters to himself in Japanese. (Give me another sight check.) 'I just wanted some specifics on what the virus was. Effects, incubation period, contagion factors, that sort of thing.' [Those who make can see a few areas of burnt folliage in the wilder areas. Looking closer there seem to have been two downed helicopters. Obviously some time ago, as there's no fires burning now.] (Made it.) (^^;) * Mai looks through the book. "Should be gone, and we're covered even if it's not. As for the disease, which was bacterial, not viral, it spread by air or exchange of fluids. There was a week to two week incubation period if it was only breathed in, though it manifest very quickly in cases of direct contact." 'Effects were?' Similar to the flu, mainly problematic because it was resistant to conventional antibiotics, only tended to kill the old or unhealthy. * Tim nods. So it was smart, like a predator. I'm safe, then. (Greg: Is lycanthropy a disease in SAB? Virus, bacteria, or strictly magic with no physical component?) (Variable, but in most cases a disease, typically bacterial) * Helicopter lands and the cloak figure approaches. At this distance you can see the figure is also wearing gloves and that his or her facial features are surprisingly difficult to make out. * Ben takes a long drag on his cigarette. Then he takes out a cell phone. * Ben dials the SAB labs. [Ben has no signal.] 'Kid, can you teleport back to the mainland?' * Mai looks to Ben. "I can pass on information quickly if need be." 'Tell the SAB labs to check what happens when this flu-like bacteria interacts with various strains of lycanthrophy bacteria.' * Tim looks at Ben, "I'd have to do a bit of swimming, but eventualy." * Mai nods and closes her eyes for a few seconds, looking like she's in a trance. 'Good to know for later, but apparently not necessary right now,' Ben tells Tim. * The cloaked figure opens the door to the helicopter and speaks in a female voice with a Chinese accent. "Please stay seated for a moment for innoculation purposes." * Tim winces, "Ah...sure." 'Innoculation?' "We're covered” she says. * Cloaked figure nods. "It is likely that the plague is completely gone, but this will protect you from it, and from most strains of lycanthrope." [Everyone feels a little dizzy for a moment, soul roll if you want to resist.] * Saldin sits there with his leafy plants with brown flower parts on top, and a small frown. 'It may protect us from lycanthropy, but I doubt from lycanthrope.' (Wow. I failed a raw soul roll.) * Ben feels a bit queezy. [The dizziness then passes.] ( *pointlaughs at Saldin* ) That...was different...Better than some ways I can think of doing things. * Cloaked figure steps back. "You may safely leave now." * Mai gets out of the helicopter. * Tim opens the door and steps out of the helicopter. Ben hops out of the chopper, surveying the landing site. * Saldin steps out, still holding his plants. * Angel steps down and shakes the creases out of her fatigues. "I hate this..." * Frei wanders by in the background, coming out from behind a medic's tent. He's wearing a tank top and denim shorts, as well as sunglasses. He appears to be sipping a large, red fruity drink out of a hurricane glass and enjoying the scenery. * Ben tries his cell phone again. * Saldin arches an eyebrow at the woman, and says, in Chinese, * Grysar sets mode: +v Frei (Hm. I have no dossier to point at like Saldin does. Um: around 5'10", bishi build, near-white silverish hair.) [Still no signal.] * Angel fingers the teeth hanging around her neck. "I'm so tired of legendary toothy monsters. Of course, I could stand to add to my collection." * Tim streaches, "What about non-legendary toothy monsters?" No challenge. 'Mai, you know this guy?' * Woman looks back at Saldin and replies in Chinese. (Ben getting a signal now?) * Saldin smiles. * Mai looks over at Frei. "Extra-planar of the more classical demon sort, more tourist than anything else, principally seeks own amusement." [I'll say something if Ben picks up signal.] * Frei sips. Yep. Tourist. 'Okay, is he SAB cleared or civvie or hostile or what?' Civvie, not cleared. Potential hostile if provoked. 'And hm. I should be getting a signal. My carrier is pretty f***ing good at international service, so either someone's knocked out a satellite or there's local jamming.' 'Anyone else got a phone to try?' Yeah, I've got one. * Angel approaches Frei. "Excuse me! Got another one of those?" She indicates the glass in his hand. * Frei watches nurses walk by. One of the prompts a whistle and the raising of sunglasses. * Tim digs it out of a pocket in his pants and switches it on. * Saldin turns his purely white-eyed gaze away from Secretive Woman Who Nobody can See, to Frei. * Frei then turns around and blinks. "Huh? Oh. Uh, well, I suppose you could have a sip if you're desperate, but I think... not *totally* sure, but I think... the venom would paralyze you for a week." He sips. "Gives it tang." (Over the years, I've actually developed an immunity to iocane powder.) * Tim holds it up and turns around a few times, "there's a bit of signal here, I guess you need to switch companies." I don't want yours. I want a fresh one. Oh. No, you're SOL, then. Then perhaps I WILL have a sip of yours. (Then Angel dies.) (Greg, give me another scene desc, please. How many people are about and what's nearby?) * Angel reaches for Frei's glass. * Frei smiles and patpats Angel on the shoulder. "That's so adorable. But that'd be a little much even on my conscience." He finishes another sip, then holds out the glass, which promptly goes up in flame. "S'bad for you." * Angel takes the glass, swishes it around, holds it up to the light... [Frei and the cloaked figure, and patrols squads are the main humans around.] (There IS no glass. ^_^;) (It poofed. ^^;) (Ah... thought the contents were going up... like a good flambe drink ;) (Hah. I can see the possible confusion. No, that was the whole shebang.) [There are a few nurses/doctors moving around the tent, although you can't see inside.] * Tim holds his phone out to Ben, "You wanted to call somebody?" [The whole area looks fairly battle scarred, obvious scorch marks from grenades on the ground, bullets in the local buildings.] * Ben walks over to one of the doctors and starts to talk with him. ...Or not. * Tim shrugs and pockets his phone again. [You don't see any civilian activity around the buildings, not even the shop. Most are closed up.] * Saldin says as he eyes Frei. "You are probably safer without it, miss." * Doctor speaks with a heavy local accent. "What is you want?" * Frei looks at Saldin, tilting his head a little, then back at Angel, all smiles. "So! What's a rampaging alcoholic girl like you doing in a werewolf- infested tropical hellhole like this?" 'I'm interested in the virus that you treated here recently.' * Angel slaps Frei across the face. "Making sure scum like you know that not ALL women will take that chauvinistic crap!" [Reminder, pertinent locations on this island. Harbor, town (here), ruins] * Saldin sighs slightly and shifts his leafy buden. [Oh, and I forgot to add, you can now clearly see the piles of earth a bit out of town.] * Frei raises an eyebrow. "Wow. You are... completely uninteresting. Thanks for your time." He looks at Saldin. "Why am I getting the eye, anyway?" Pause. "Or the lack of eye." * Tim walks over to where Angel, Saldin, and Frei are talking, "See the thing you have to remember about the women in SAB is that most of them can kill you without breaking a sweat." * Mai walks over to Ben. "Want translation?" 'Sure, if you can handle technical details.' [The woman? in the cloak heads over to the town.] 'Perhaps the three of us can talk in the tent. It's kind of hot out here in the sun.' * Mai conveys the question Ben asked, she'll do this automatically unless I say she doesn't. * Saldin says evenly, "Simply taking measure of you. Would you tell me your name?" A slight quirk of a smile. "I find 'demon' impersonal." And general besides. What about it? * Frei blinks a second time. "Wow. So is the helpful lad over here the only one of you who's NOT an insanely hostile jerk?" * Frei jerks a thumb at Tim at that last. * Ben indicates the tend with a gesture and, unless someone protests, enters. Nah, the others are back in England polishing their guns and stuff. [** ‘The Tent’ log starts here] (Yvonne polishes Tim's gun for him.) (See? :P) Didn't I already mention that I'm hostile on weekdays? Keep it in your pants, hot stuff, and we'll get along fine. * Frei gives Tim a pouty look. "Aww. Does that mean my fiery goddess with the big phallic symbol stayed home? Damn." Probibly. Unless there's some other mission out there somewhere she's off blowing stuff up on. What are you doing here, 'demon'? Got a list of tourists? Anything we don't already know? Or are you as useless as you seem? Slacker. * Saldin accidentally drops one of his flowers, and crouches down to pick it up. "I did call it an overly general name, miss. Hence why I asked for a more usable one." * Ardweden is now known as Ardle * Angel pulls a pistol and fiddles/spins it idly. * Frei inspects his nails distractedly. "Just chillin', yo. Actually I was hoping Mad Dog would make an appearance, because she piqued my interest. Sadly, she doesn't appear to have come along." * Zegone is now known as Zegon * Tim nods, "So, ...are you going to tell them your name, or are we going to have to make one up?" * Saldin stands up, and looks around idly. (You're welcome to join me in the med tent.) (That's OK. I have lots of flowers to carry. The less walking the better. @_@) Hmm? Oh, you can call me Frei if you want. Where'd the other one go? And why are you carrying all those flowers? ( And we *will* make one up. ) Frei it is. (Yes, BACON MAN!) * Saldin nods, mouths the word, "Frei," once, then says, "Monkshood. Or, perhaps, a less personally amusing name, Wolf's Bane." (Bacon man rocks) ( BACON MAN. He will SAVE your bacon! ) (I'm more of a sausage type. *hipthrust*) (Okay! Got that out of the way.) * Tim blinks, "That's usefull stuff to have around...I'm not sure I want to know where you found it around here." I think I missed a step, Sal... Ah, bored. See you later. I'm going to make some progress. * Angel heads into the tent. * Saldin says with a small smile, to Tim, "I did not find it around here. But maybe it will be useful." [** Angel joins ‘The Tent’] * Frei watches Angel go. "What the hell was that all about? Bah. I must be getting soft. Normally when a woman slaps me I bite her." * Saldin pauses, and adds, "I'm not really sure where I found it." * Tim nods, "Well, you found it...and I guess that's the important thing." * Tim glances at Frei, "Like I said, it's the whole, 'they can kill you' thing." * Saldin says, as he turns back towards Frei, "I do not think he is worried about that, Tim." * Frei pffts derisively. "You got that right. I've been killed by worse stuff than that." (Such a good little secret keeper.) ...Then I hope to never meet them. * Frei grins and claps Tim on the shoulder. "A good policy. I *like* this one. Straightforward, honest. Kinda cute too." * Saldin smiles vaguely. "He's taken. I believe." * Tim shakes his head, "So, shall I give you the lets be friends speach now, or after you've given me flower and jewlery?" (Ha ha ha.) * Frei grins, floating a couple inches off the ground and lacing his hands under his chin. "Do you WANT flowers and jewlery? Most guys want blow jobs." * Saldin raises an eyebrow. "Tim, it seems you attract very... forward company." * Frei looks at Saldin. "Are you telling me that's not true?" Well, yes. See that way I'll have some to give to other people. Ha! Sneaky. I approve. Sadly, I'm stocked up on blow jobs but not on flowers or jewlery. Though really, your plan COULD apply to either. * Saldin is saved from having to reply to Frei because he's talking to Tim. Whew? Darn, looks like I will have to tell you no now. Oh well. * Frei grins and pats Tim on the shoulder again. "That's okay. I'd be a bit worried if you said yes." He then turns and looks at Saldin. "So what's your story, Krillin?" (Best part about being 1700 years old? I can make obcultrefs even the PLAYERS haven't heard of.) * Tim shakes his head again and turns to Saldin. * Saldin quirks an eyebrow, and says with a slight bow. "My name is Saldin Qian. I am from the temple of . I am trained in exorcism." * Saldin happens to drop some flowers in the bow. * Frei ahas and laces his arms behind his head. "Well, that explains the sublimated hostility." ( Nah, he's like that to everyone. ) * Tim kneals down and picks up the spilled flowers, "Well, here's half of what I was after." * Saldin starts to bends over to pick them up again, but is stopped by Tim doing so instead. "Recently I have found cause to not be worried about a number of spirits and extraplanar beings, especially when I am around SAB." (Really? Well, that does explain things.) (Like I said, all the other nice people arn't here :P) (Like his aunt!) (Where Where?! ::looks around franticaly:::) * Frei raises an eyebrow curiously. "Essay whatnow?" (...Wait...I'm not even doing something wrong right now...) * Saldin looks back at Frei. "SAB. The british government group most of these people work for." * Tim stands back up, "Yeah, they pay most of us well." * Frei ooohs and gives a happy little 'yay!'. "I knew if I tagged along enough times I'd hear a name. Thanks a bunch, cueball." [Mai, Angel, and Ben emerge from the Tent.] * Saldin nods slightly. "You are welcome. As to the 'hostility', if SAB is willing to have you around, I am willing to leave you be. I doubt there would be much purpose anyway." ...You could have just asked. [Quick review of the situation, there's the nearby mostly shanty village, the military patrols, the upended piles of dirt, and some distance away, the ruins, and the harbor.] 'If the Indonesian government starts using captured Lycans in ops, I foresee a problem,' Ben mutters to Mai and Angel as they emerge. * Frei snickers. "Sounds good on paper, but the first time I met any of you whackjobs was in the middle of a firefight. Wasn't much time for questions." * Frei looks at the tent. "I think I'm making you miss your briefing." * Ben pulls out a new cigarette. * Mai nods with a fairly distubed look. "I'll relay this to SAB HQ, and see if they have anything more for us." * Mai then shuts her eyes and looks trancey again. * Angel heads over to the dirt to take a look around. (ooh, dirt!) * Tim looks over his shoulder, "No...I think you made me miss the meeting. I guess I should go find out what happened." * Ben follows Angel to the dirt. * Frei hehes and rubs the back of his neck. "Sorry about that." Nice meeting you, enjoy the show and such. (Angel give me a military science (intel analysis) or a medical (pathology) roll vs. Mind. -4 bonus) Oh, I dunno how long I'm staying. I bore easy, but I'm not terribly suicidal. * Saldin hefts the flowers over his shoulder, and says, pulling out an amulet with a now free hand, "It will most likely not be a problem anyway." * Tim turns and walks twords the dirt untill he catches up with Ben and Angel. (Anyone else who checks them out can also make the roll) (failed) (made) * Saldin 's amulet plays the fun golden flash and hum game. * Tim pales a bit, "Well...I guess we know what happened to alll the people who were living here..." * Frei floats along after Tim and Saldin. Why not? "Whatcha lookin' at?" Umm... yuck. (Hmph.) Okay, that's not helpful. (Okay, Tim is with Angel and Ben, but Saldin and Frei are not yet?) * Tim points at the mound of dirt, "This...I'd at least like headstone..or a plack or something." (Frei followed them over.) (No, I followed Tim. And am all floaty and suspicious!) * Angel goes toward the shanty town. * Frei looks at the dirt curiously. (Hm. Do I have Medical or Military Sciences...) (Hell no! ^___^) * Ben follows Angel again. * Saldin 's eyes widen, and his skin pales slightly. His amulet stops humming, and he quickly stuffs it away. But you're all far away, so this is just posing into the wind. (And I failed anyway. DITZ CITY.) ( I have both. Too bad I'm not with you. Ha! ) * Frei hmmms exaggeratedly. "Wow. Totally don't get it." ... * Frei shrugs. "Do I look like a forensics type to you? It's DIRT." * Tim blinks at Frei and then starts in on the small words version, "Okay...when lots and lots of people die all at once and the ones who are left don't have much time." * Mai opens her eyes and heads over. "I've got some additional..." "I see it was worse than just the tent." * Tim points, "They dig a big hole and throw everybody in." * Frei looks down. "Mass grave, eh? Suck." He doesn't sound too concerned, though there is a tiny hint of pity in his voice. Yeah. * Saldin strides over to everyone else, and bows his head at the pile of dirt. * Ben pulls up to Angel and says quietly, 'I don't want that unknown quantity extra planar in on our investigation. How 'bout you?' * Zegon is now known as Zegone * Tim gives the grave a bow and then looks around for the others and settles for Mai. (*clicks the stop watch*) I don't know about extra-planar, but he's a pig. I just don't want him around ME. (Saldin: Hm?) (Ben is heavily suspicious of Frei, under an hour.) (In his defense, I'm pretty suspicious.) (Oh, come on. Ben was suspicious of Frei from minute one. He just hasn't talked to anyone about it earlier.) (Well, I was doing that because Ben spent a few hours trying to figure out if Saldin was going to screw up their mission by being untrustworthy. ^_~) (In fact, he's been trying to stay away from Frei the whole time. Did you notice him investigating in the tent while Frei was outside? And how he left the grave when Frei showed up?) (I think Ben's entirely right to be suspicious. c.c;) (Hoo! Success, baby.) (Frei scores with a nurse!) * Frei hmmms, furrows his brow, then snaps his fingers with a little spark of purple-black light. The dirt pile sports (maybe sprouts is better) a fairly plain but average tombstone, engraved thusly: "Human life is short and brutish, but they deserved better. RIP, faceless victims." SAB reported back, they believe that the interaction of a conventional bacterial disease with bacterial based lycanthropy could mutate the bacteria. ('What page were you on, Wes? 'Cause we already got there.' -Buffy Summers.) * Tim turns around again, "...Well, I guess that's an improvement. Thanks." ((Commenting on a fixed typo)Wait, bacteria + bacteria = mutated virus? What kind of medicine is that?) (Dr. Mario-tastic!) (More like Nick Riviera-tastic) (And Ben's referred to it as a virus several times. I blame him!) * Frei smiles. "Well, it's true. And it sounds like a horrible way to die. I figure, a human's going to go out, it ought to be fireworks." (Yeah, yeah. Ben's no doctor. Don't blame him. SAB docs should know their terms) (/me leads ben to shanty town to find tourist traces) (/me DOES HER JOB) [** ‘Not ASPCA approved’ starts here.] (Hey, Ben investigated that tent! Ben's competent!) * Saldin eyes the tombstone, then mms, saying softly, "Least of all like that." * Tim nods. (Oh, presumably Ben was out of range to hear Mai confirm what he deduced three seconds after landing.) (He'd have been snide IC if he'd heard her.) (Mai asked because you told her to. c.c;) (Yeah. But he'd have been arrogant about being right.) And we've been left behind...again. (We plot your deaths behind your backs.) * Saldin says, "If I needed to be there, I wouldn't be here. I assume they are doing what they were hired to do." He adds after a small pause, "But maybe you should catch up." * Frei bahs and waves a hand Ben-ward. "You better get going. I can see the ramrod up his ass from here. He probably thinks I'm over here trying to get you to join Scientology or something." * Frei waves his fingers spookily. "Come to the dark side! We take cash, check, and all major credit cards!' Bleah, I've had enough crazy people telling me how I'm supposed to run my life. (/me snerks) * Saldin looks slightly confused at Frei's statement. * Frei shrugs. "You had to be there. Sort of." * Tim nods, "yeah, but if you suddenly disappear on me I won't know where you or they are, so I think we, or at least I, should follow them." * Frei stretches his arms behind his head. "Since I gave you the courtesy, how about giving me your names before you go?" (I told you my name!) Oh, did I forget? Sorry. Tim Shimiru. (Then name, singular, and some Prozac for Saldin. c.c;) (Mmm. Soothing Ancient Medicine. n_n) * Frei nods. "Okay, Tim. I'll remember it." He smiles. "It WAS fun meeting you." (Give 'em an external desc of SABtown, because right now Angel and Ben are indoors there.) * Tim gives Frei a bow, "untill the next time." [** Tim joins ‘Not ASPCA approved’] * Saldin is not moving quiet yet. His gaze wanders back to the grave. * Frei floats there. "So, you're wondering: Why did he go to the trouble to mark the grave when he knows he's not getting in the kid's pants, right?" (Saldin's missing a whole Chinese conversation Ben's holding in the other channel. :P ) (Aww.) * Saldin smiles faintly. "Not exactly, although I would be dishonest if I said the question of why didn't cross my mind briefly earlier." * Frei raises an eyebrow. "So why ARE you still here?" Simply to remind myself what happens when people of good intention make truly horrible decisions. * Frei hmmms and taps his finger on his leg idly. "You sound like you know something about why this went down." * Saldin says simply, "It was chemical weaponry." He shakes his arms. "Monkshood makes for an effective weapon, as well as an effective defense." * Frei frowns and looks at the 'grave'. "Some interesting timing, though. Man, why do they DO this to themselves? Not that I'm against killing. A few people need a good killing. But at least step in and give it the personal touch, you know?" * Saldin glances over at Frei, then says, "An odd way to look at it. I believe the answer, however, would be fear." * Frei looks at Saldin with a raised eyebrow. "Dunno about you, but I'm more afraid of a man that'll rip my heart out barehanded than I am about an armchair video-game general. Well, relatively speaking, as realistically I'm not terribly afraid of either." * Saldin looks over at Frei for real, and says, "These were opponents that would have ripped their hearts out bare handed. I think the you and that general would agree." * Frei mms and looks at the grave. "I remember when muskets were big. 'Kill somebody from 100 yards away! Only three minutes to reload!'. Sometimes I dig humanity, and sometimes I think they're the damn stupidest race I've ever seen. And I've seen some damn stupid races." * Saldin hrms himself. "I can certaintly only imagine. Age must give one perspective." * Saldin glances towards the town, then back at Frei. "Perhaps I should join them. I might be needed." * Frei steps back onto the ground (off the grave) and shrugs. "I'd say it's been swell meeting you, but I've got that nasty foreboding sense that it wasn't. Still, good luck with whatever it is you people are doing." * Saldin smiles faintly. "I do not know. However, it will make for fascinating conversation. Should I tell Mad Dog you were looking for her, or are you going there now?" * Frei grins and snaps his fingers, disappearing. "Man. Don't ruin the hunt." * Grysar is now known as Grysar (Assume he's gone for now. ^_^) * Frei is now known as Mikoto * Saldin shakes his head, then walks off. He might even end up in the town! "A hunt..." [Everyone is now in ‘ASPCA approved’ and at the completion of that log, return to this point.] * Woman stands in the door as the group heads out and speaks to Tim. "I'll forgive you, not them, I want them both off the island. Now! You two and the woman may stay, if you're willing to spend the night." * Tim nods, "I am, and thank you. Now I have to go make sure they don't try this again." I think we need to check out the healer in the ruins for a cure, and maybe a better description, but the person who checked her documents is probably back in Jakarta. I'm for finding her. Let someone else get the cure. * The woman suddenly pauses and puts a hand to her head, she looks fairly confused. * Mai, for the record, is presently vomiting over by one of the shanties. * Saldin frowns slightly, shifting his armful of Wolfsbane, but says, "I may take you up on your offer. I do not know yet." * Ben hurries out of the store at this point. * Woman looks around. "What's going on?" * Tim blinks at the woman, "You were about the throw us off the island?" * Saldin says sadly, "I really don't know." He glances in at the dead body. 'No, she wasn't,' Ben hisses. * Woman looks over to Tim. "I.. what did you do?" 'Nothing!' Mai, maybe you could take the team to meet the healer in the ruins. I want to go back to Jakarta to see if we can get a positive ident on the 'S'-lady. (...must resist urge to drop something heavy and pointy on Ben, it won't do anything anyway.) * Nai regains her composure and walks over to the group. "I.. I can do that." Get a cure if it'll help your conscience, but make sure you get description and info on the perp. * Woman pauses and brings a gloved hand to her forehead. * Woman then goes back in the building to check on the people she was attending to. * Saldin just looks very confused. "Maybe I should have followed sooner." * Tim turns around, "Yes." * Ben sticks his head in after her. 'Oh, one of them just passed on, looks like. They must have taken that bullet wound earlier, when they were captured. Damn shame. Well, we'll leave you to that.' * Tim then turns to Ben, "I don't know what you just did to her, but don't you think she's going to figure out what just happened when she finds the body wi...." * Saldin glances between Tim and Ben. * Ben smiles at Tim. 'Let's get moving, shall we?' [Ben hears some of the prisoners speaking in Bahasa Indonesia to the woman.] * Ben heads off at a brisk walk. * Angel walks beside Ben. "I like your methods. You freaks can be useful sometimes." [The woman responds in confused and increasingly angry Bahasa Indonesian.] * Tim grumbles follows Angel to keep her from shooting more people. 'That? Oh, just a little trick I picked up. Basically just hypnosis. Nothing freaky about it.' Where are you going, Ben? We have what we came for. Jakarta... * Woman steps out again and barks out some quick orders in Bahasa Indonesia. One of the army patrols quickly comes to her side. 'Hm. Okay, we're about to have a problem.' 'I can only do that trick on people who speak a language I know...' Gee, I wonder who's fault that is. Tim and Saldin, if you're willing, can stay with me, you two should probably go. ::she listens:: And go quickly. 'Fair enough.' * Angel picks up the pace toward the chopper. * Ben hurries after her. If only I had more ammo, I'd stay. 'If I didn't think it'd piss off the SAB, I'd stay.' * Tim shakes his head, "I'll stay." 'I highly doubt the Indonesian army can hurt me.' (Speaking of which, Greg, you want to fire a few shots at Ben as he hastens to the chopper?) * Mai walks over to the woman and starts rapidly speaking to them, waving her arms some. * Saldin looks at the leaving people, then over at Tim, then Mai. "So now what happens?" He looks at Tim specifically, since Mai is busy. "Or, more accurately, what happened?" * Soldiers do take aim at Ben and Angel, but don't fire yet. * Tim points at Angels back, "She shot one of the people chained to the wall, just to test the silver bullets." And right now I think we've got a grave to dig. * Saldin says, softly, "I... see." * Mai calls out in English. "Hurry..." * Ben hops into the chopper. * Angel hops in the chopper, noticing that she has arrived there only just now... * Chopper takes off. Seems like the pilots in a hurry. To Jakarta, James! * Ben takes a long drag on his cigarette. 'Ah well. I was never going to want to come back here, anyway.' [To Jakarta!] [Session split and end for now]
