[In this channel! Red is in the computer lab with Ari. Unfortunately Ari is called away by a SAB crisis and excuses herself. She's there as a SAB agent so this seems reasonable enough.] [Red's still there.] [Start!] * Red frowns thoughtfully. * Red goes down the briefing list in her mind, thinking about who to look into next. * Red runs a check on the other students mentioned in the briefing. * Computer guy waves as Red is leaving. "Fishings good when you're led where they're biting, murderer." <[Who does Red pick then?] * Red waves back. "Indeed it is, lunatic." * Red checks on Jessica Winslow. [Jessica Winslow does a fair amount of work but seems to spend a lot of time chatting on various message boards. She also has a collection of agnsty poetry that is actually surprisingly good. Not actual quality certainly, but it doesn't make you wish she'd stop griping about her potential death and start doing something about it.] * Red hums and quirks an eyebrow. And wonders if she logs her chats. * Red also runs a check while she's at it, to see what exactly a wizard has to be or do before being called 'dark'. [She saves some favorites, she seems to take particular care in saving ones with nicks: Slayer, MRichmond, and Notron.] * Red checks the logs with MRichmond, since she's on the list too. o/` * Red mostly scans for discussion of stealing, smuggling things into the school, the suspected black (magic) market of the school, and the like. [Mrichmond seems mostly to be giving study help, sometimes with a tone of impatcience. She also has given some poetry commentary, but seems to like to procrastinate on getting to that. She's dismissive of any questions about dark magic or evil wizards. Mallory Corwin and Jarrett Foss come up fairly often, although Maris tends not to say too much about them.] * Red frowns. Does Jessica ask a lot of questions about dark magic or evil wizards? [A fair number, but she doesn't seem to approve of them, more looking for gossip] [Essentially tending towards spells that hurt people, spells with unpleasant components, death magic and the like. It seems to be about half the kind of magic and about half what you do with it. Although magic is apparently not always a morally neutral thing, some spells are considered dark even if used towards good ends.] * Red checks the logs with Slayer, but is even more cursory, unless something interesting crops up. [Slayer's fairly broody apparently and seems to not to like to talk about a lot of topics, you also think Jessica's probably interested in him. Not much else of note.] * Red was only really checking on the slim chance that he lived up to his nick, anyway. Nortom is last, and she just runs a search for some key words instead of actually reading through it. [Not too much about dark magic, although a fair amount of jokes, some good, some less humerous, she seems happier when talking to him.] * Red nods and goes on to Maris Richmond. [Maris apparently heavily uses this account for research purposes, although there's a distinct lack of anything untoward, aside from some unsuccessful searches for advanced magic.] * Red checks on Isaac Maddox next. [Isaac Maddox has some standard usage patterns and a lot of spam, but oddly he seems to log on much more regularly than other people. He also seems to visit one particular website quite often.] * Red raises an eyebrow again. That site being? [One of the handy dandy sites that allows for anonymous browsing, difficult to track usage remotely and records won't tend to show up on this computer either.] * Red frowns and wishes Ari were here. She looks into the site some, her interest piqued. [Most of that site just has civil libretarian type stuff, and gateways to the internet at large. Also a few ads that'll show during browsing as a cost for using it. Nothing else of note.] How are they working for you? They must like me; they're behaving. For now. * Red checks in on Dustin Amherst before heading out to do interviews. [Pretty standard. Oddest thing you notice is that he's got a PDF type file copy of a book on the pschyological impact of Bullying. He also seems to have done some research into Mr. Mallory Corwin.] * Red frowns. You just jinx it? Not unless the computer is deliberately lying to me, no. And I think I'm done here, for now. * Red logs out, remembering the password. They don't normally lie, except when they want new hardware, then they whine about how all their friends have it. Ah, well. Hopefully they'll grow out of that. * Red stands and waves to the nice nutcase on her way out. "I might be back later. Take care until then." * Computer guy. "You too, but beware your future... Well, is about as dangerous as your past really, slightly less so in the near term." Really? Well, that's the best news I've had all day. Thank you. * Red smiles warmly at him before turning and leaving. * Red goes in search of Maris Richmond, first. [You run into Luther Hurst on the way to the library, he's a male in his fifties with greying blond hair. Obviously a teacher. He eyes you somewhat suspiously.] Ah, the g-woman cometh. * Red smiles at the jab. "Well, hello to you too. How is a life in education treating you, sir?" Well, the faculty appreciates me and the runts fear me, life is good. Ah, sounds wonderful. Do the students all fear you, or are some more defiant than others? * Luther grins. "The defiant ones are the ones I'm sure to keep in line, exemplary pupils like Dustin, need fear no wrath." Ah, well. Good for Dustin, then. How about ...Maris? * Luther looks at Red. "Done our homework I see Ms. Bureaucrat, but then if you know of Maris, you can probably imagine what a royal pain she is to teach." Oh? How odd. She seems studious enough. Or is that the problem? Ah, yes, the joys of students who believe they know more than you do. Ah, well. I can see how that could become annoying. And what of... Mallory? I'll bet he's nothing but trouble. * Luther comments drily. "Ah, I see you're the new resident psychic then." * Red smirks. "Sadly, no. And I'm not a mage, either, but that's starting to seem appealing." She sighs wistfully. "Ah, well. I'll get out of your hair now, Professor. Perhaps I'll interview you later; I'd love to hear your views on certain parts of the school." [As Red talks Ben, Alvar (the headmaster), and a woman in her late forties in a business suit wearing a pentacle walk down the hallway towards the lab.] [Red is standing near to the door to the library talking to Luther Hurst.] * Ben glances over at them as they walk up, but he doesn't slow down if his companions don't. His gaze lingers on Red a bit as they approach, checking her out. * Red ignores Ben's looks. "Oh, and before I go - I don't suppose you'd know where Maris is, Professor? I'm guessing the library, but it never hurts to ask." * Alvar nods to Luther who nods back. Luther seems to recognize you two as probable parents, but doesn't seem to care. Libraries most likely. Or she may be spending time with that imbe, challenged student Jarrett. Or God forbid Dustin, I can't see why he ever wastes time with her though. Check the common room if she's not in the library. Down three floors, ask a student, even a government type can't miss. * Red smiles, ignoring the insult. "Of course. Thank you." * Red turns and walks off towards the library! [End]
