[Saki and Yuri meet in the lobby of the hotel five minutes or so before they said they'd go up to talk to Bookie. This gives them a little discussion time if they like.] [The lobby is fairly luxurious. It has a fountain and nice seating areas. There are glass sided elevators.] [Start] * Saki leans against a wall, arms folded. She looks like she's in serious thought. Or maybe she just doesn't have any idea how to proceed from here. * Yuri looks around the area as she stands near Saki. After a second she says with a faint smile, "Well, he's got eyes for you, mainly..." * Saki nods. * Yuri rubs her head. "Guess he doesn't know his age range..." Well, I can't just ask him if he has any powers. He doesn't, though. Then why is he entering? * Yuri looks over at the elevators. "Maggie doesn't have powers either." (Well, the whole divide your age by two and add seven thing can get a little tricky once you start dealing with supernaturals. :P) That fox kid does. The guy must know that. * Yuri nods. All he needs is a good enough gun, though, I guess. Or so they want to try... maybe they just plan on hitting him with weird supernatural power crap just before the fight. * Saki sideglances at Yuri. "You're sure he's got no powers?" [And probably time to be getting in the elevator if you want to be timely, but you can talk more on the way up.] * Yuri frowns and looks back over at Saki. "Yeah. Maybe they'll do what that EU Peter did..." * Saki checks her watch and heads towards the elevator. "Seems doubtful. He gets caught and he's out." * Yuri blinks. "No, I mean... um... he didn't have powers either. He sorta... uh, made his deal with the sonic spirit right before the fight." Yeah. And if he lived, he'd be out. * Yuri follows along. "Why? He's not the only one who does that sort of thing." * Saki shrugs. "I heard somewhere that outside forces aren't allowed in the damn thing." (Well, MLB actually cracked down on supernatural doping in 2015. :P) (Ha. I don't think things like Ren and such are outlawed, and they're clearly extraplanar, right? And Yvonne's not-quite-happened tricks?) (After press reports on the unusual number of players with nonstandard eye-colors.) Besides, if they were going to do that, they wouldn't have anything to hide. (It gets tricky. Essentially you have to make the argument that you're one entity. But yeah, Ren's okay, so Peter theoretically could make the same argument.) * Yuri smiles a little. "Well, they could be hiding it from me." * Saki shrugs and doesn't say anything more on the subject. [And an elevator comes down for you. Yay motion sensors in these modern hotels. It's empty.] * Saki gets in and hits the button. * Yuri follows before getting left out! [The doors close and it begins slowly rising to the Penthouse floor.] [The view as you rise is quite nice. There's garden sections and hanging bridges as you go up. As well as a waterfall flowing down tiles that eventually flows into the fountain.] * Saki leans against a side wall of the 'vator. * Yuri looks over at Saki again then shakes her head. "Peter was real out there. And that extraplanar spirit..." So that's what you think it is? Peter? Oh, that was an extraplanar spirit for sure. No. This guy. Oh. Well... I guess it's either do something like that, or give him some cool guns. [As you get even higher you get to a long tall window that gives a great outlook on the city.] A gun won't do him much good. * Yuri mms slightly. "Depends on the gun." * Saki shrugs. [And the doors open. There's a circular hallway with a small number of rooms. Bookie's is the first on the left.] * Saki steps out and stretches. * Yuri follows! [You get to the door!] * Saki knocks! [A somewhat deep voice says. "Enter, then put your weapons in the bin on your right." The door clicks and unlocks.] * Yuri says hesitantly, "... they're awfully paranoid." * Saki opens the door. [There is a small interior hallway with another closed door at the end. There's a heavy-duty metal bin to your right that can be open or shut remotely.] * Saki tosses her handguns and shotgun in the bin. * Yuri looks nervous... or perhaps embarassed as she slowly pulls a large odd- looking handgun from underneath her jacket and carefully puts it in the bin. [ That's a start, but we're still reading metal on you. Look, the government knows you're here presumably, so it's not as if we'll try anything.] ( D00d, that is the uglist gun I've ever seen! XD ) * Yuri shrugs helplesly. (Don't insult my gun. ;_;) * Saki folds her arms and shuts her eyes. After a minute she opens them again and pulls a bunch of grenades from her jacket. "Forgot about these things." Also a switchblade. "That too." [Door opens. There's the guy from before, now in a suit, he's got a holstered taser at his side. No other obvious guards.] * Saki comments, "This is one hell of a hotel room." [The main room is actually an electronics clearing house practically. All sorts of neat toys, video game systems, rear broadcast and plasma television, consoles, and the like.] [Bookie waves you in.] * Saki walks in as she's beckoned. "Yo." [Awareness check, against mind (memory)] * Yuri glances back at her ditched gun before shaking her head as if to clear it. Then she follows. [There's one screen currently playing through the promo reel to the controrsial light-gun shooter "House of the Old." Currently it's showing the top Scoorks. "Bok" managed to get the lowest and easy to achieve one, but the rest all presets.] (light gun shooter as in house of the dead) [You both notice a distinct lack of the advanced driving console he mentioned in the story.] (I don't remember the story. ^_~) (He kinda liked driving games and had a full control setup for them. That's all. I gave you the check for OOC memory reasons. :P) (Aha.) So glad you guys could make it. Bill tells me both of you guys are SAB or the other not SAB organization and I shouldn't tell you much, but if you don't mind that we can hang out. * Bookie seems vaguely curious if you'll stay, and slightly apprehensive that you won't. * Saki nods. "Yeah, it's cool." She looks over her shoulder at 'Bill', then back to Bookie. "Kind of paranoid, aren't they?" * Bookie laughs. "Yeah, but I think that's part of the job." * Saki shrugs. "I guess." * Yuri walks over. "It's pretty silly. Who'd want to hurt you?" * Bookie grins. "From what I hear people pull even nasty shit outside of the games at the Olympics to get ahead. And people don't really even fight there. Except for boxers, or is boxing rigged? I can't remember." That's wrestling. * Yuri has walked over to near Bookie. "I don't really follow western sports too much." Ah right. Although I've seen some streetfights that were mostly punches that had way suspicious results. Anyways, want to play or watch something? Let's play. * Bookie nods. "What's your game?" * Saki points at House of the Old. "How about that one?" * Bookie nods. "Good thing this version is four player." He walks over to the light guns and grabs one. * Saki walks over and grabs another. * Yuri walks over to yet another light gun and picks it up, chuckling a little. "It's so very light." [The actual game had come out after a serious reworking of retirement benfitsystem to the disadvantage of the younger generations. First level involves an escape from a nursing home.] * Bookie gets the game started. [You're both skilled with guns, so the first parts are pretty easy for you.] [And you keep going for a while, Yuri does a fairly good job of figuring the right thing to say and keeping Bookie at ease. He's around Yuri's level of gun skill and way below Saki's based on the scores. He's pretty good at switching up weapons for the situation though.] [Considering your guys skill you're actually breezing through pretty easily. Before all that long you can beat it.] * Saki shoots stuff like a pro. Well, she is a pro. * Yuri is much less of a pro. ;_; [The three of you get to put in record new scores, Saki highest. Bookie gets to put one in two because he's been riding your coattails.] * Yuri puts in NY and smiles a little. "Not so bad." Thanks. And wow, you guys took out the senior Senate leadership like they were nothing. I always get stuck on the guy with the moderized wheelchair who throws his teeth and am all out of lives by the end. So what now? * Saki enters SK. "Yeah." She considers for a moment. "Fighting game?" Sure, what kind? 2d? 3d? And I got the one with the latest generation powerglove. The boxing version that came with it was pretty dull, but it has some better stuff now. * Saki nods. "Sounds good. Don't think I've played that kind yet." * Bookie glances over to Bill. "Get a few of those out. And get us some pizza or burgers or wings ." He glances to the two of you. "That good with you?" * Saki nods. "Awesome." * Bill nods and does that, keeping an eye on you as he does. Oh, and if you guys like, visual awareness roll, +8. * Yuri blinks and after a second nods slightly. "Sure." [And you see nothing. Bill makes the call and brings over gloves. They're essentially a highly organic form of controller, capable of understanding fairly advanced gestures and the like. Similar to having five analog controls plus some for the wrist. The game only uses some of this mobility and has a tutorial the two of you can use to get used to it for a bit.] [And update those rolls.] * Bookie doesn't bother with the tutorial, he just watches you guys and offers the occassional pointer. * Yuri seems to find the gloves odd but the punching thing definitely seems normal to her! * Saki takes a bit to get used to the gloves, but shortly after starts doing much better. So this is two player. Who first? I'll go first. * Yuri getures outward. "Well, she volunteered." * Bookie nods and grins. He goes with the young punk with everything to prove as his fighter. * Saki picks, of all things, the panda who doesn't really have much of a background. He's just in there because the game designers thought it would be cool to have a panda. [Bookie comes on strong, he seems quite familar with the moves and can rapidly gesture the various combos. Saki starts to figure out the game and make a comeback, but he's just fast enough to dodge when she tries for a last ditch super move. His reaction time with the glove is outstanding. Nice for you first time.] * Saki nods. "It'll be different next round." [Boookie's character does pull the highly complex finishing move where he grabs a piece of bamboo from the background, cuts it with a switch blade, and shoves it... somewhere unpleasant on the panda.] * Bookie nods over to Yuri. * Saki steps down and gives Yuri a chance to get in there. * Yuri blinks and then steps up to the plate, so to speak. "Well, let's see..." She can pick a monk char. There has to be a monk char! It's a martial arts fighting game. There's laws. [Bookie grins and picks the so cool it verges on parody movie star character.] ( Oh great, now when I think of Saldin, all I get for a mental image is Dhalsim. >.< ) * Yuri gives Bookie an odd golden-eyed look. [Bookie seems to be getting into the game and doesn't notice the look. He actually seems warmed up now and performing better than he did last time. However, Yuri's basic grasp of combat is superior, so she puts up quite a fight. He does manage to beat her, but using crazily complex moves including theone where an entire movie crew shows up on set and each hits Yuri's character in a different way.] * Saki winces as the monk gets slapped upside the head with a light-fixture. [So, we'll fast forward a bit. You play a while and probably win a few, although Bookie comes out on top typically. After twenty minutes of play the food gets here.] * Yuri actually seems to take the defeats a bit to heart. She must not like losing too much. * Saki doesn't seem particularly phased by it. * Bookie digs into the food. And then he tries to eat slightly neater because there's women present. And who knows, some women might have better table manners than Breaker. :P * Saki doesn't quite wolf down her food, but she doesn't seem too concerned with taking small bites, either. * Yuri starts in on the pizza, herself, mainly. * Saki comments. "You're pretty good at fighters. Play much?" * Bookie switches around, and loses his attempt at table manners once he notices Saki isn't bothering. "Some more than others. I thought I wasn't too bad at a few of them, but then I went down to the arcade and learned I was wrong. Course they didn't have Gloveman Battle. ::He gestures to the game you jsut played:; * Saki nods. "Never seen it before," she reminds him, ignoring her grammar. * Yuri looks over to the system and frowns at it slightly. "It still seems so strange to me." I like it. * Bookie nods. "You get used to it after a while. Although I guess it's not any more like real person on person fighting than using a gamepad controller would be." * Saki mms. "I guess." * Bookie grins. "Course the way I used to fight mostly involved throwing dirt in the other guys eye, keeping where he's vulnerable, biting if pinned, and running once I was out of gimmicks." Whatever works. * Bookie nods. "That's what I thought." * Yuri looks back towards Bookie. "Used to?" * Bookie smiles. "Well, I've got a little secret help that I won't tell you guys about for my next one. Because I somehow think Miles can handle my normal technique." Probably. That guy would be freakin' annoying to fight. * Yuri nods a little at that. * Bookie nods. "It'll be tough. Can't say I'm glad he challenged me. But I'm kinda looking forward to seeing if I can pull it off." * Saki nods. "So, why are you in this thing, anyhow?" [Oh, and both of you mind(memory) rolls if you like.] Loads of cash, although apparently most of it will be in a trust so I don't blow it all at once. I can see the thrills and the toys getting old, but I'd just as soon never raid a dumpster for dinner again. ( Bookie? :P ) (Ha.) (Bookie :P) * Saki blinks. "Money?" * Bookie nods. "I don't give a crap about Vanguard and they don't give a crap about me. But they treat me good, let me hang out with cute enemy agents, and pay well. What's not to love?" What about Breaker? * Yuri laughs a little. If Breaker knows one thing it's how to take care of herself. She'll be fine whoever wins. And if she asks I'll tell her what I told you, and that the gizmos you get to play with are out of this world. [And psychology or interro roll on that if you like.] * Yuri mms slightly and says, "Do you think she'd like any of them? She doesn't ssem like she's into... gizmos." * Bookie shrugs. "You might be right, I'm the closest thing our group had to a tech guy. Came in handy with a few security cam.. but that's a different story." Group? You mean Vanguard? Breaker's gang. ::He gets a proud wicked grin:: The second most dangerous group to be in our section of town. * Saki eats more pizza. "Who was the first? ( First most dangerous group to be in? Everybody else of course. ::He then finishes the wings he's been eating:: So I should get back to training before Bill gets impatient. We can do one last round if you like though. * Retrieving #sab2020 modes... * Saki chuckles. "Sure." (And one more memory check, as I'm in a good mood. :P) What'll it be? You got DDR? * Bookie thinks. "Somewhere. It tends to insult me a lot. Unless dancing like a monkey is a good thing." * Saki chuckles. Don't worry, I'm not good at it either. * Bookie chuckles at that. "Sure, lemme find it." He gets up and looks through a pile of equipment. * Yuri rubs her bald head as Bookie digs. * Bookie finds a set of pads after a minute and brings them out to the consoles. He then hits the button on each that causes them to straighten out and attach to the floor. "See Bill, I told you buying extra controllers would be worth it." * Bill snorts. [Okay, performing arts (dance) rolls against body. And any other finals rolls you feel like asking for.] [So you get started Bookie and Yuri both get insulted pretty early on and it's game over three quarters of the way through the fairly easy song. Saki's actually dominating. Bookie doesn't show any natural sense of rythm or dance ability, but he actually seems like an agile little bugger. He's about a match for Yuri in ability.] * Saki somehow dances o.o * Bookie rubs his forehead. "Well, that was a challenge. And nice work there Saki. You too Yuri, I was just lucky this time, I normally go out a third of the way through the song." Thanks Aheh. Thanks. But I should get to work. Thanks for coming over. ::He smiles tenatively:: If you still feel like hanging out after my secrets are out, I'd be up for it. * Saki nods. "I got a question still." Yeah (?) Whatever your secret is, is it natural? Can you tell me that much? * Bookie seems confused "Natural? Like getting bitten by a superspider or something? Naw." I mean like gene-modification. I think that's more of a Paragene thing. I mean Vanguard may play around with it to, but yeah, I'm not into being a test subject. But that's all I'll tell you. * Saki nods. "Good enough." * Bill frowns at this but he lets it go. And feel free to take some food if you like. Now that it looks like I'll live past twenty five I'm trying to avoid junkfood more than five days a week. (And end or you guys want short conversation time afterwards?) (I'm wiped. x_x) ( Nah, this is fine. ) [End!]
