[Date: October 11, 2020. 10 AM. Weather: Brisk with a chilling but light rain.] [Miles is visited by Walker Preston, SAB's communications guy, who has a cell phone. He waves and hands it over to Miles. "Your fight with Bookie is up."] [The cell is currently connected. [Start] * Miles scratches his head and nods. "Okay!" * Bookie speaks over the phone. "Where do you want to do this?" Anno... I dunno. Where would you like to do it? ^_^ Doesn't really matter. How about a stonehenge or something? We can do a mock up. There's no way we're letting you fight near historic landmarks. * Miles giggles. "Stonehenge is funny." That a yes? * Miles shrugs. "Okay!" [Time: 1 p.m.. Location: Stonehenge or something like it. There's a series of monoliths that seem to be made out of stone or something dense. Most are upright and forming gates, though some are knocked down. The surrounding area is grasslands, all though not that far away there's a cliff bordering the ocean.] [The watch area is a van with lots of monitors and one side open to the air. You can see the fight itself with binoculars or on one of the monitors. Prudence Kinsha and Ceilia a mildly attractive woman in her mid twenties that work for Vanguard are there.] [Warlow and Breaker are there. Breaker looks a bit more serious than usual, but less serious than the end of the Yvonne fight.] * Miles pretends that Warlow isn't there.. yeah. * Bookie has on a red jumpsuit with what looks like a small control bad on one wrist. It actually looks fairly shelved, probably expensive. [And start in here.] * Breaker looks Bookie over and shakes her head. "This should be quick. Well, you ready?" * Prudence watches the monitors. "Jumpsuit eh? Looks like my hunch was right." She seems fairly excited by the prospect. * Ceilia mms noncommittally and uses a pair of binoculars to watch the scene. * Bookie shakes his head. "Not just yet." He reaches over to his wrist and taps a few controls. * Miles makes a few quick gestures. "If you want to prepare..." * Yvonne leans back in a chair and stretches she smiles. "Nice and cramped in here, huh? Feel the togetherness." [A fraction of a second later there's column of light around Bookie. He floats up for a moment and his arms extend (it's unclear if that's of his own volition). A controller apparatus appears on each arm and on his legs. Electronics on the suit briefly shine and a few parts oddly go translucent, although with the light you managed to avoid seeing too much of his midsection.] Oooh, shiny! [And there is food. Fairly german fair, mix of sausages, some spatzel, pretzels, and beer.] * Breakers expression seems in agreement with Miles, but she doesn't say it. My, an actual summoning transformation sequence. That must have set you back. Style matters in these things. * Warlow actually seems slightly taken aback but quickly regains her composure. Especially clothing style Nice color, but a jumpsuit? That's kind of lacking. * Ceilia glances over to Yvonne and then looks back at the fight without comment. * Yvonne grins toothily at Ceilia when she does that. [At this point the light flashes and where Bookie once stood there now stands a rather heavy looking 4 meter tall metal killing machine. Bookie is not remotely visible, although he obviously fits in the midsection of the beast.] Awww. That's cute! [It has two legs and two arms, each as thick as girders. The left arm seems to be a weapons mount of some sort with a shiny lense at the end, the right is a more functional albeit quite large hand.] [The shoulders are larger than would be proportional and seem like they could be used for storage.] ( Canned food storage! ) [There's no apparent head, although there are a few rings of what could be sensors in the midsection.] [I didn't spring for a picture, but think a cross between a humanoid robot and an at-st.] My... Kickass. I want one! I wonder how much it costs... Oh well, I'll just check E-Bay for one later. * Ceilia smiles. "Our demographic studies did say chicks dig giant robots." * Yvonne grins and nod-nods. * Prudences nods eagerly and looks enamored. "Unless you've recently taken ownership of a multinational corp, a nuclear power, or a oil rich sultanate, I'm thinking you can't afford it." * Yvonne frowns. "Aww.... I guess I'll have to go do that, then." * Breaker starts jogging off. "C'mon this I got to see." Warlow follows. * Miles blinks.. "Wow." ( Sultanate, of course o/~ ) (You just want the harem) (She IS the harem) Let's go. Start! * Miles vanishes, upon which footsteps can be heard all around. * Bookiemech falls back moving quickly thanks to the devices large gait. As he moves one of the shoulder compartments pop open revealing three rows of four small missiles pops open. Four of the missiles launch and spread out to carpet bomb the sources of the noise. [One of them swoops through one of the gates to hit the ground just behind it. Dodge roll Miles!] Nice turn, those things homing? * Ceilia just smiles slightly. [However, there's no sounds to indicate that he hit anything. Just a lot of scorched earth and one gate that collapses as smoke billows up.] [Suddenly a half dozen rats appear not so far from the sight of the explosion. They're floating midair scurrying about something you can't see.] Huh, Murphy applies to magic too I see. Mice! XD * Bookie chuckles and the sound is broadcast from the mecha. He runs towards the mice while swing up with the right hand of the mecha. * Prudence eyes Yvonne with a haughty expression of contempt techies reserve for noobs. * Ceilia just watches the fight. * Yvonne smiles at Prudence, too! [However the most of the rats fall to the ground before the fist hits. One of them is sent flying over the cliff though.] * Prudence looks back to the fight. "No big gun? Guess he's conserving power." He'll have more than enough power for this fight I think. A big robot versus a bunch of rats... I hate to say it, but it's not a very exciting fight. I presume he was trying to send them into the battlesuit itself. * Yvonne blinks. "Why?" As an irritant presumably. As unless those are some sort of freaky demon rats of unusually bitiness there's no way they're getting through that armor. * Yvonne giggles. "Maybe they are demon rats." I doubt it. The rats run around on the ground. And there's a grunt of annoyance from the mech itself.] * Yvonne shrugs. "Maybe not. Either way, all he has to do is keep tossing them into the ocean." That's hard if they actually get teleported into the mech. Unless he opens a hatch. But this isn't Metal Gear Solid, so I don't see that happening. * Ceilia now gives Prudence a brief odd look before going back to looking at the fight. [One of rings around the mech lights up with a bright red glow.] Oooh! It's like a Christmas ornament! Now where are you hiding... run away have you... Oh! [Another four missiles launch. This time all four take different paths towards the rubble pile where the gate once was.] Those things are cool. How much would one of those cost? [One of the missiles flies wide, the other three are right on target. Defense rolls Miles!] * Ceilia doesn't turn from the battles. "The Battlesuit? I'm afraid Ms. Kinsha is correct, they're only made custom and tend to cost scores of billions of Euros. No, no, just the missiles. Ah, those are far more affordable. At least when vehicle mounted. She takes a card out of her pocket and gives it to Yvonne. * Yvonne takes the card and grins. "Thanks!" * Yvonne grins. "Hee! They fire in different directions and go to the same place. I love it!" [The first missile plows into the ground for to no apparent effect. However the second and the third swerve, each honing in on some apparently invisible target. They hit at two different points leaving blood stains behind.] They're a bit underpowered in terms of explosives. Doesn't surprise me; homing when you're dealing with teleports is a real bitch. Oh, that's ok. I don't think I want explosives anyway. [And one of the missiles that missed survived and is now in the process of turning around and should return this coming round.] Oh! Oh! * Yvonne points. "It's coming back!" These things are so cool! Ecks Dee! * Ceilia nods and smiles. Oh, are you really on IR for those detectors? If you promise to answer a few questions about the mech once the fight is over I know something that may be of use to you. Sorry, this entire operation is a trade secret. * Prudence pouts. * Bookie gives another irritated groan. "Damn these rats." He then aims his left arm at some unseen target. The lens at the end of the arm flashes bright blue for a moment and then glows. [There's actually no visible effect, aside from a small blue glow midair. Followed a moment later by a missile hit, followed another moment later by a second blue glow a little farther away from the spot of the first blue glow.] We did consider trying to make the beam visible for showmanship purposes, but decided that an invisible beam was tactically superior. Not to mention cheaper. * Yvonne blink-blinks. [Suddenly the grass around Bookiemech turns a lush green and springs up to the size of wheat and then enveloping Kudzu. It covers the mech for now.] Oh. It's running out of steam. He still has more than enough power to finish this. But probably not he if gets wasteful with that laser cannon of his. [Several trees then pop up around the mecha, which should make it a bit tricky for it to move. [Another four rockets fly up from the mecha. Three start turning around slowly, but one comes back and its the trees and entanglement. The vines entangling the mecha are quickly burnt away and the trees themselves are lit up but still hold.] [The trees continue to grow as this happens and root themselves around the mecha, some entangling its legs and others digging deep into the ground.] This fight is weird. He's a kitsune. Fights against them are never normal. * Yvonne giggles. "Yeah, but still." He's gonna lose unless Bookie runs out of energy * Prudence nods. "Although I think if he were an eight tail you'd need one of those skyscraper mechs to take him down. [The three missiles all fly towards the trees themselves, two of them change course to do this.] Damn, if nature is this hostile I'm glad I stayed in city as a kid. That line was lame. * Ceilia shrugs. "We offered him scriptwriters." It's like something they'd say on M.A.S.K. or Saved by the Bell! [Two of the missiles slam into one of the trees, which falls down freeing up Bookie's arm. The arm hones in on Miles. [However, its movement is a little sluggish and its aim just a tad off. There's two blue glows again, but they seem rather close to one another, as if they hit the periphary of the field. * Ceilia hmms quietly to herself at Yvonne's comment. M.A.S.K? I heard about that once, but nobody actually recommended watching. Whaaaat? That was a great show! Boulder Hill! And that jet that turned into a helicopter! * Prudence shrugs. "There's a lot of stuff from before my time that I haven't gotten around to watching." She puts a bit of emphasis on 'before my time' Aww. Then you missed Thundercats and Silverhawks and COPs and all these great American TV shows! And Gumby, but that was less great. I wouldn't say I missed them. * Ceilia hmms again as she watches the fight. [And vines re-grow and once again encompass the mech.] Well, Gumby had the Blockheads. They were such rotten villains. * Yvonne clenches a fist. "Ooooh. I'd like to get them for what they did to Pokey." [The Mech then prepares bends its knees slightly and prepares for a jump. However, his attempt to break through with vines while leaping is utterly unsuccessful and he's just snapped back down to the ground and gets his arm thoroughly stuck between two trees] * Prudence gives a slow nod. "Okay..." Damn. It appears we'll need a few more features. I knew that would happen. Stop moving and fire more missiles! * Prudence then hmms. "I wonder what Miles is up to now." She fiddles with one of the controls and switches a few camera's to red screen that Miles appears on. * Miles is visible! And stuff. Or at least a bunch of him are. They crawl into the trees as various animals and start producing... sparks? [The sparks go through the mecha and seem to hurt it some. There's an irritated growl from the pilot and scorch marks around the joints of the mecha. [A series of missiles fire on a time out of the encumbrance. The first one gets stuck in the vines and explodes cutting their mass down by about half. The second shoots through and swings around to aim at one clump of Mileses. The third also explodes in the entanglement clearing away the rest, although leaving Bookie still stuck in trees. The forth also flies free and at a different clump of them.] [Miles almost pulls away in time, but is still left scorched. A few of the illusionary MIles probably get it worse though.] * Miles murmurs and withdraws a ball, each of his forms doing the same, and a portal appearing above Bookie's form. * Yvonne hmmmms to herself. [The Mecha sags again but then appears to have found a second wind of sorts as energy flows over its systems.] * Bookiemech then tries to destroy a tree with its other arm. And gets the arm stuck in one. * Yvonne blinks. "Wow! Did it just refresh itself?" * Bookie appeared to have underestimated his own strength, he was trying to crush a tree and instead punched right through it. It probably won't last. And ouch, I don't think he meant to do that. * Ceilia shakes her head. "Well, he'll be spending more time training if he gets through this one. He needs it. * Miles finishes his summoning and vanishes to reappear next to the Mech, giggling in his somewhat battered state. "Do you give up yet?" He tries to give it a nice shock. [The shocks do scorch the mech, but don't seem to do as much damage as that first attack.] * Bookie laughs. "Not by a long shoot." He fires another bevy of missiles. [And incidentally, a family of bears falls through that portal. A few end up on top of the trees, but one is on top of Bookie. It attacks him but barely scratches the armor.] Bears! * Yvonne giggles. "That's a silly attack." [One of the missiles severely damages the bare and another three fly free. Two are able to turn around in time to target the Miles's.] (Beeaaaaaaaars! ) [One aims for each clump of Miles, defense roll Miles!] [And Miles doesn't get out of the way at all this time. It's not a direct hit because of the illusions, but it still scorched him pretty awful.] How about you surrender? I'd rather not overdo it with this thing. Although I swear I will strangle these damn rats with my bare hands!" * Prudence nods and grins. "It is." * Miles giggles and vanishes, reappearing to slam some marbles into the mech's 'face', causing ice to cover it over making it a pain to see. "Anno, I'm done playing now. You were fun! But you still shouldn't go further. The others'll hurt you much more than I did." ^^; * Ceilia smiles at the hit. "Finally, some luck goes our way." Oh thank God. ::The mecha then starts the unsummon process, which is a lot quicker and basically just a shiny light."" Sounds like they're finally about to finish it. * Miles motions and the trees release the mech from their grasp, and the animals start vanishing one by one. Miles himself murmurs a short phrase and heals himself of the most obvious wounds, looking much better after he's done doing so. That was cool, just like those mecha in those cartoons! * Bookie finishes the vanishing sequence and is left standing. With one hand he scratches at himself, with the other he grabs at the vanishing rats, he only has time to get at one, so he goes for the one that had been near his upper leg. * Yvonne blinks. "Why'd he do that? Is he giving up?" * Bookie squeezes with a fair enraged expression for a moment before it vanishes to. He then glances up to Miles. "Although I hadn't seen your tactics in a Mecha show before. Quite dirty. I'll heartily approve once I finish scratching." This was just a prelim. He probably decided it was only worth so much abuse. * Prudence nods and is disappointed when the mech vanishes. "Aww, I wanted to see it up close." [The van then carries you to the fight scene.] * Miles snickers. "Maybe you should try magic instead. It's much less assuming than that." ^^; [And Breaker returns. Warlow keeps a polite distance from Miles. Also the van that had been holding the observers drives up and Prudence Kinsha and Ceilia get out.] * Yvonne boggles. "I guess he really wouldn't have done well if he succeeded." Well, I asked if I could learn magic in a quick and easy way, and they said that was a very bad idea. * Yvonne hops out of the van and bounces. * Ceilia nods as she steps out. "Possible certainly, but we do try to take good care of Breakers friends." Anno, of course that is! You need to commune with the spirits first, and that takes... *counts* sixty, seventy years? * Breaker runs up and gives Bookie an overly tight hug. "You won! That was so awesome! Except when you screwed up, that was mostly funny." * Miles waves at Breaker and smiles. Too... tight.. Your friend has some really nifty doohickeys! * Breaker lets up some and looks to Miles. "He does!" We just thought we'd demonstrate the kind of hardware you could work with if you joined us. * Yvonne boggles. "Wait, Bookie won? I thought he gave up." * Miles giggles. * Yvonne blinks a few times. "What happened?" They're pretty nice. Paranoid as all hell, but they let me do what I want. Even let me hang out with some SAB agents. They may try to exploit you for evil and stuff but they seem reasonable about it. Huh. Anno, I wouldn't go with anyone if I were you. But that's just a kitsune's opinion. ^^; Well, I suppose that's an endorsement of sorts. And we do prefer the world be safe, after all we're part of it too. * Prudence looks to Yvonne. "Miles asked for a surrender, Bookie turned him down. Bookie then asked back and Miles decided that he'd had enough fun." Oh. So like freelance? I don't think I'd really want to commune with spirits for seventy years or that sort of thing though. * Yvonne stretches. "Oh well, I've got places to go, people to see... things to do. Bye everyone! Nice to meet you two!" She addresses that last part to Cecelia and Prudence. Then she runs off. Anyways, I should be going. ::she looks to Bookie with a warm smile:: Good work here. I'll leave a car for when you're done talking to Breaker. Although I'm afraid you do have a fair amount of training ahead of you. * Miles laughs. "If you don't understand maybe someone should help you." ^^; "Anno, *pauses to think of the right words* if I may leave? I have some homely matters to attend to." [Ceilia and Prudence both wave as Yvonne runs off.] * Breaker nods. "Sure. Talk to you later." (Well, Ceilia says goodbye, Prudence waves) [Bookie and Breaker go to talk for a bit. And end!]
