[Sun's been down for a while and it's getting fairly chilly at the construction site where you are planning to meet the telekinetics.] [Jonathon and Saldin drove here, 'walked' to a freight yard where they rescued Manic (one of the tekes) from Volt (Paragene's top fighter).] [That done, they 'walked' back. Ren has driven over himself and is just arriving.] [The other two tekes are on the horizon, but not yet here.] [Start] * Saldin is STILL female and STILL smouldering hot. * Ren walks closer, waving casually to the others. And Manic, if he's there. * Manic groggily waves back. "What's going on? Is today a big supernatural party? Why did no one tell me? If this was a surprise party for me, the surprise part went well, the party did not." * Jonathon smiles at Manic. "Surprised us too, chap. Surprised us too." * Ren frowns. "So their guys managed to backtrack Manic?" * Manic eyes Jonathon for a moment but then nods. "Oh... and thanks." * Jonathon flicks his fingers in the air and turns to look at Ren. "Apparently. But at least one loose end's settled now." * Saldin smiles faintly. "Hopefully for a very long time." [Hearing checks please. +6 penalty.] [All of you can hear and see the arrival of the remaining two telekinetics. They had been flying at fairly high altitude until they were right over where you were. They then flew down, head first, at a fast rate.] * Ren sticks his thumbs in his pockets and waits for the to arrive, not having anything to lean on. [Once they're both near the ground, in synch, they slow and float right side up. Magnie is the younger blond one with a large smile upon seeing Manic. Mael is the older dark haired one with a more serious look.] * Saldin regards them both with her solid white eyes. And smoulders at them. With a u. Glad ya'll came. * Jonathon looks up and picks some lint off his coat. "It seems things are getting a tad...heated." He glances over at Saldin. "And no, I don't mean her." [Both move in tandem as Magnie flies over to Manic. With clear difficulty, he floats up and is then hugged by his sister.] I see. What's go-- ::When Magnie moves, she's jerked along the same vector:: Magnie, let me down please. ::Mael then stops floating and drops to her knees after an ungaingly landing. She dusts herself off and gets up.:: [Repeat those hearing checks. +3 penalty.] * Saldin chuckles lightly. [Oh, and if you like, give me a sixth sense roll on their powers Saldin. I forget if I've given that to you before.] [And you all didn't make, so no new hearing information.] * Magnie looks over to Ren and Jonathon. "Good to see you guys too." Got some news for you three. Do tell. * Magnie lets go of Manic. He floats back and down and then walks over to lean against Jonathon's car, as it was nearby * Jonathon sticks his hands in his pockets and looks over at Ren before he speaks. First, there's a little bird that wants to meet you. *he glances around* Think he's late. * Jonathon flicks a piece of lint off his coat. "Well, while we're waiting, we might as well play catchup." * Manic nods and closes his eyes. * Mael looks on with interest. * Jonathon gestures slightly. "Someone's definitely after you. Paragene has a prime involvement in that, sadly. They're owned by a chap called Kristof now. Ring any bells?" [The tekes glance to each other.] No. Well. He knows you. In fact, the one who caught Manic here had a contract signed to him. * Ren nods. He takes a spot on the other end of Jonathons car to lean on. * Jonathon calls over to Ren. "And careful of the paint job." * Ren counters with a thumbs-up. "Sure thing." * Jonathon snickers and then flicks another piece off his coat collar, looking at it for a moment. "Apparently, they've been watching us too well. They paid our old friend Derk a visit as well." * Saldin has a neutral look on her face and glances about idly as she waits. Jonathon knows how to talk. Blast. ::she glances at Magnie:: This is why we have to keep a low profile. * Magnie looks somewhat guilty. * Jonathon raises an eyebrow and looks at her. "Magnie?" * Magnie pouts. "I just don't like it in the wilderness. I didn't talk to anyone." * Jonathon smiles. "It's okay. A girl's got to spread her wings once in a while, eh?" [And the raven is now visible in the distance. It's flying through well lit areas as if it wants to be scene. Give me hearing checks, no penalty.] * Magnie giggles and nods. * Saldin looks up slightly in response to Jonathon and Magnie's little trade of words. * Jonathon reaches into his pocket. "It's quite alright. Things are bound to happen. Still, it is something we have to deal with. You may wish to take a look at this." He goes over to hand Mael Volt's contract. [Jonathon hears an engine going fairly fast in the distance. Give me a mechanics (automative) check Jonathon.] * Mael glaces at it. "They just don't give up." [By that margin, you can identify it as a motorcycle. Specifically a harley. More specifically, Mak's.] * Jonathon quirks an eyebrow slightly. "And it still continues at that." He turns around. "We expecting company yet?" * Saldin shakes her head slightly. Our old cross-bearing friend is on his way. * Ren frowns. But he doesn't get up from his nice leaning spot yet. [And the Raven gets there. It lands on top of a light pole. Sixth sense roll, Saldin.] * Magnie looks over. "Who?" * Manic looks to be asleep on his feet. * Ren frowns, and goes to check on Manic. "Hey, kid. Ya with us?" * Jonathon checks his pistol for a second. "Mak." * Saldin lets out a small sigh. [The raven has some supernatural tendencies. That might explain the talking.] Neat! Not quite. * Manic jolts awake. "What? And knock off the kid. I'm mostly here. Just... tired." Company. And not the expected kind. Raleigh's been keeping out of contact. Sounds like her tracking methods ended up working out. * Jonathon shakes his head at Ren. "Let him be. He's had a hard day." Okay. * Ren withdraws a tranq rifle, and holds it loosely while he looks around, trying to get a bead on the oncoming Mak. No.. I'll help. Don't worry... ::He dozes off again:: What's the plan here? Well, I have no *personal* qualms, but I'm fair sure he's involved. Ren seems intent on killing him. Or at least severely scraping him up. That.... is entirely up to Mak. Wait? Why? Yes. You just may wish to shoot after he stops traveling at full speed. * Saldin frowns. "A chain of coincidences, leading here." He's a bastard. I'm sure he had his reasons, but I simply don't like him, and he's hurt a lot of people. [Manic shifts his position and is now lying over the trunk.] Next thing you know, Raleigh'll be showing up too. ... it all depends on how he responds. [And everyone can hear the motorcycle now.] But anyway, be prepared for the worst. And hope for the best. * Mael nods. "If there's a real fight, we flee. Okay?" What Jonathon said. * Jonathon looks off in the distance, putting his pistol pointed up near his cheek. "Fine by me, but you can't run all your life, Mael." If you flee, let the bird go with you. I don't want Mak showing up to screw up him. * Mael shakes her head and looks to Magnie. "Alright. I can fight. ::She looks to Magnie:: You take Manic and run if things look bad though." * Magnie sorta-nods. [Awareness checks. Sight. And anyone can hear the motorcycle now.] * Ren calls up, "Raven. If things go all to hell, consider SAB the default meetup point." * Raven squawks. Presumably in agreement. Just might want to avoid Volt. * Saldin looks in the direction of the oncoming noise and stands, facing that way with a faint frown on her face. [Ren and Jonathon can see the bike coming as it turns a corner. Still a tenth of a kilometer off. Saldin make your awareness roll. If that's in range, give me sixth sense as well.] * Ren draws a bead on the bike-rider. He doesn't fire yet. [When Jonathon looks a little closer, he actually can notice that Mak has a blond caucasion female rider. Too far away to tell much more.] * Jonathon tilts his head and holds his arm out towards Ren. "He has company. * Ren grunts. He doesn't drop his aim yet, but he still doesn't fire. [And the bike closes to 50 meters. Visual checks again. -2 bonus. Tell me margins.] * Saldin gets a slightly puzzled look on her face. [Ren can now see the girl, and I do mean girl, she's a teenager. Hair and makeup are rather different than Raleigh's, not just by color, but it could still be her and isn't that different than the old pictures Ren looked at.] [Anyone acting before the bike pulls up?] ( Nah. ) ( Just holding action. ) (Nope!) (Not here.) [And Mak pulls up. And all of you can see his companion clearly. Neither of them are wearing a helmet and she's looking you all over. Awareness checks, -4, sense of choice.] [Ren is certain that this is in fact Raleigh. Jonathon suspects. Saldin doesn't really see it.] Raleigh and Mak. * Jonathon smiles and shrugs with his gun. "Bloody wonderful. Let's have a party, what say?" * Saldin 's eyes widen. "That... as Raleigh?" * Mak looks the group over. "Well, this is unexpected. Also, lower that gun please." * Raleigh frowns as she finishes appraising the situation. * Ren grins, toothily. He relaxes the grip and lowers the aim some, but he doesn't drop it. * Raleigh hops off the motorcycle. * Mak looks up to Magnie and smiles. "I have someone who wants to talk to you." * Magnie smiles back. "Oh?" * Mael glowers at this. * Saldin looks at 'Raleigh' with a serious look and says, "Do finders of lost children normally associate with demons that tend to torture?" * Jonathon flicks his fingers at the edge of his hair and fixes his gaze on Mak. "You won't mind if we remain suspicious of this whole thing, right?" Wait.. what? Demons? * Jonathon gestures to Raleigh, commenting to Mael. "And this lovely creature is the one we found in Derk's apartment." Not normally. But no one really likes those kinds of demons anyways. * Mael nods. "Alright." She looks a bit confused and angry. This probably surprises no one. * Magnie keeps smiling over to Mak. "So how are you? I lost the bible and CD. We kind of left in a hurry." * Ren frowns, and watches. * Saldin glances to Mak and replies, "One of a... family of telepathic demons. Your former friend's family has previously had a tendancy to torture." * Mak glances back up to Magnie. "Oh.. uh.." He rummages through the trunk of his motorcylce as if by instinct. [Oh, also for the record both Mael and Manic are a bit on the unhealthily thin side. Magnie's not.] [Mak tosses Magnie a King James edition bible and then looks at the rest of you.] So... what's going on? I mean, she's got a saint. I checked. * Saldin has turned her gaze back to Raleigh. Just curious about the company you keep. * Ren frowns, looking ... inwards for a bit. * Raleigh glances up at her Raven. It squawks. She then glances over the group of you again and thinks. * Saldin glares and continues, "Demons, helllords, and more are her associates, Mak. Raleigh. There are immense problems here, and satisfactory answers are needed. Shortly." I'd like to hear it as well. Especially after your friend tried to bore into my head earlier. * Mak gets out his gun. * Jonathon immediately the pistol points at Mak at the sudden motion. "Well well. Do we want a standoff?" * Raleigh sighs and then smiles. "Alright. We'll talk. I can offer a treaty to three telekinetics." * Ren still has his rifle hanging loosely. [Give me a sixth sense roll Saldin.] * Jonathon smiles, but his gun-hand still isn't wavering. "Excellent. I knew we could talk." I am going to insist that if anyone talks to them, the bird goes first. * Ren pauses. "He was invited." What talk. I say we shoot her. And why do you keep pointing guns at me? * Jonathon shrugs slightly. "You brought her. But since you insist." He turns the gun on Raleigh instead. * Mak said his last line in a slow drawl. He doesn't seem particularly worried about Jonathon's gun. "She registed as the errand girl of a saint." * Ren shrugs. "So she's probably a good enough person somewhere." I'm waiting until after she talks first. So, deal is, they talk to their mother. Then Kristof doesn't won't touch them. Doesn't matter how the talk goes. That's it, eh? They don't know what's going on yet, really. Yes. Simple really. ::she takes out the amulet she was wearing earlier:: There's even a gift as a sign of good will. What say you that they and the bird have a nice, private chat, and then we can figure out how much of what they're going to do you'll try and decide for them. Wait, no way it's that easy. * Raleigh looks a bit puzzled when she glances over to Ren. "Why? He's my familar. Now that we're close he speaks for me." * Jonathon smiles at Mael. "That's my gal. Skeptical to the end." He draws his aim off of Raleigh for now, but the gun is still handy. Then you woulnd't mind that being remedied. Look, kid. * Raleigh still looks confused. "I'm not following. Oh, and Saldin, could you inspect this please?" She holds it out. We can standoff here and you can make as many proposals as you want, worded howver many different ways. And we'll continue to say no in as many different ways. Now why would Kristof simply call it off? Simply, we don't trust you. * MAgnie has tuned out the discussion and is glancing at the bible Mak gave her. * Saldin holds up her hand up for it to be tossed. "Without shielding, your excuses to Bookie may ring very hollow." The more you push, the less we'll trust you. You don't have to trust me silly. My contracts are good. ::She then smiles over to Saldin while tossing the amulet:: We'll see. So if you really want to do this, bug off and call later. If you want something else, say it now. * Saldin catches the amulet and looks to it for a moment. And whatever you want, I don't think a fight here and now is gunna 'chieve it. This is a limited time offer I'm afraid. If I fail, he'll probably take another route. I don't want a fight, I want a deal. And why should we deal with someone we don't trust? * Mael looks quizical. She watches Jonathon for guidance. * Raleigh smiles. "Contracts are what I do. I'm authorized to use one quarter of Kristof's soul as collateral. Believe me, he's not about to sacrifice that much power for these three. No offense." * Jonathon looks at Mak. "How did you end up here, eh?" Look, Kid, you're wanted. We've got a bunch of questions we want to ask you. Mebbe' something can be worked out there. But this is final. We're not dealing with you on anything that involves them, *he thumbs back at the tekes* becuase we don't trust you, contract or no. I don't think they do either. * Magnie also looks to Mak. "And do you have a replacement CD?" * Mael bites her lip for now. * Jonathon calls over to Magnie. "Sorry, luv. I think it'll have to wait a bit." The monk can verify that the deal would be good. And like I said, one time offer. And a generous one I think." To see their mother... Yes. And after that, you lay off. * Mak scowls at that. "You do know about their mother?" It doesn't add up. That's the deal. I mean, if they launch an offensive against him, that would break the treaty. But I'll include provisions that they'd have to do it knowingly. Why? And anyone else with any connection whatsoever, directly or indirectly, to Kristof? Only those he overtly claims. If they kill an undercover agent, well, that's really the undercover agents fault, now isn't it? * Ren fixes his green eyes on Mak for a moment, quietly. And no tracking? Mak, I need to talk to you later. * Raleigh thinks for a moment. "Sure." * Jonathon smiles. "And what do Kristof and you get out of this, luv?" Alright. I'm just the errand girl. I would guess he's paying back an old favor or something. * Ren shifts his attention back to Raleigh. "What'll he do if you fail?" * Jonathon glances at Mael. "Awful lot to go through for an old debt. Is there a reason kidnapping was an option before this deal? * Raleigh hmms. "Probably chastise me and send someone else." She then looks to Jonathon. "Well, you've nicely foreclosed on any other options, haven't you?" What would this someone else do? Offer them reprieve, dancing clowns, and some ice cream whle they're at it? Or try and kill or kidnap them? * Jonathon smiles. "I have a way of that. But you are still staying disturbingly silent about the intent. And, all told, it is not my decision to make." * Saldin palms the amulet and shakes her head slightly. * Jonathon nods to Mael. "I believe they have had a lot of people try to make their decisions for them." * Raleigh looks to Ren. "I couldn't say. I do pride myself on making reasonable deals. Most of Kristof's employees do not." * Mael nods. "Manic, wake up. Magnie, enough with the Bible. Offer is that we see our mother and Paragene's new master leaves us alone forever. What do you think?" * Ren doesn't lower the rifle already out. But he does reach into his jacket with another hand, and pull out a pistol. He starts spinning it on a finger. Uh... Sounds *way* to good to be true. But, if it was true, I'd take it. Interesting to see 'Mom.' Although she sounds scary." What he said. * Magnie keeps glancing through her bible. She's reading bits at the end at the moment. * Saldin regards Raleigh evenly and says, "You work through the world in twisted ways, Raleigh." * Raleigh holds out her hand to Saldin. She smiles, "Well thank you. So, my gift pass muster?" * Ren calls up to Magnie, "Anything interesting?" I just like reading about angels. So what's the gift? * Saldin smiles thinly. "Muster for what? A gift is not a bribe, Raleigh." Oh, well, as I'm not trusted, I thought you'd want to look it over. It would hide their powers. And, for the youngest ::she nods to Magnie:: It would let her fly even when her feet were on the ground. * Magnie's suddenly paying a hell of a lot of attention. "Ooooooh." * Raleigh smiles to Magnie. "No strings attached. Just a show of good faith. Keep it whether you sign the contract or not." * Saldin ahs and nods. "Well, that claim is accurate." Beat. "Although it is not perfect." * Mak scowls. "I don't like any deal involving their mother." I'm only human. Perfection is beyond me. They've got a right to see her, if they want to. I don't like it, but the deal sounds good. If these contracts are trustworthy. I think we should have a chance to proofread this contract before anyone signs it as well. Raleigh, you still haven't answered why. Why you're going to all the trouble to get to the kids, why Kristoff is putting so much effort into dealing with them. Becuase of this whole situtation, they've been put in a bad position, and I think that, if you know anything at all regarding why, you'd tell them why they've had to hide for so long. You've got a good streak to you somewhere, and you definitely play it up on the surface. You'd probably think they'd want to know too. * Jonathon makes a quick nod of the head. At least at the first part. Of course. I could make it out under Saldin's supervision. I can sign for it and you'd have two hours to decide whether they sign too. The protection goes into effect after the meeting. * Jonathon glances at Saldin for response. * Saldin nods slightly. "That you could." * Raleigh then follow ups to Ren's later comments. "Kristof is interested in them because they were Paragene's best product. Obviously, he'd like a deal on better terms. At the moment, you have the all cards. So if he can do a favor for their mother, he at least gets something out of all this." * Mak snorts. "I can buy her swapping favors with hell lords. Right up her alley." * Jonathon smiles. "So he's using his 'good word' as an 'in.' Is that it?" This is just trying to shove his foot in the door. What comes next? * Raleigh shrugs. "I don't know his entire thinking. I'm just his lieutenant." * Magnie hovers over by Saldin. She looks at her with pleading doe eyes, "Can I have it?" * Saldin shakes her head. "I am not interested in helping him earn favors." She looks to the children, and holds out the amulet. "But their choice is theirs." She looks down at Magnie and smiles a little. "Ah. Of course." She hands it down to her. Hopefully it didn't melt. * Magnie reaches for it and then hesitates. "Toss it please." * Saldin chuckles and tosses it slightly to her hand, as opposed to placing it. I could care less about his attempts to butter-up our mother. But it sounds like a good deal. If the contract checks out, I'll take it. * Ren nods. "Up to you three now." * Magnie catches it and grins. She puts it on and stops registering on Saldin's sixth sense. She hesitently puts a toe the ground. "You're sure the flight works?" * Raleigh smiles. "Guaranteed." * Ren pauses, then looks straight at Raleigh. "If Kristoff, or you, tries - anything-,..." I will end you both. Contract or no contract. * Magnie pokes the ground ever so tenatively with a toe and then flies straight up in the air. "Yay, it works!" (Cham has posessed Ren.) ( Correction: Chamkat has. ) * Raleigh nods. "Understood. You'd have a fourth of Kristof's soul to help you on that." * Jonathon glances at Mael. His expression is neutral. * Raleigh then looks up to her Raven. "Go on home. I'll finish the contract work." The raven squawks and flies off. * Mak glowers. "Well, we could just kill the girl and take out the helllord. Simpler and doesn't involve Emma." * Saldin says simply, "I do not see how the two are related." We could. But like I said, they have a say in this. You do that and you're no better than all those who've tried to hold them previously. Tell that to them. *He thumbs at the trio again* * Magnie shrugs. Simpler for you. I'd prefer not to wait to be safe until all my enemies are dead. * Raleigh gets out a nice set of papers and pens. "Well... let's get to work, shall we." [Ren puts in a good point or two on the contract. Saldin is able to verify that they will be safe as soon as they visit, and that talking to Emma Yates in the cell is all they have to do. No odd definitions of visit or any of that.] [Jonathon makes sure that nothing short of deliberate unprovoked attacks by the tekes would violate the treaty.] * Raleigh responds to Ren's grace period request. "I'm not authorized to make payment up front. You're more than welcome to keep her under heavy guard until the meeting happens though." [Emma's cell does check out for the past week or so when Ren inquires. They'll up the guards.] * Ren eyes Raleigh for a moment. "It's still a constant, that becuase of this, they'll be able to talk to her, and it will happen. Like I said, I still don't trust you. So I wanna make sure you're not banking on that fact." * Ren is now known as Renless What, you think she'll hurt them? The meeting would take place in SAB's most secure facility. As I said, I'm not authorized to begin the protection until the meeting takes place. [Break then.]
