[Date: September 26. Time: 1200 Local.] [Kurt arrives in Hong Kong, presumably by plane. Tech has not advanced to the point where that's a short flight, but it is pretty comfortable.] * Kurt is already in disguise as that poor, probably dead wannabe-ninja. (Not dead yet. Wouldn't want forensics giving away the game. :P) [The actual city is quite bustling and very prosperous but continues to have an uneasy political relationship with the mainland. Fortunately for the tourism part of this trip, that hasn't stopped growth and there's a good nuumber of interesting skyscrapers to see.] [One of them is owned by Vanguard Aerospace and is part of Kurt's target for today. Although the main conference is held at a rather luxorious Hilton adjacent to the building.] [The skyscraper was built in the last five years or so and in has a variety of discrete touches aping the appearance of a multi-stage rocket, with some of the middle levels holding greenspace in a sci-fi type theme representing Vanguard's commitment to the China's desire for peaceful colonization of spacee. Or that's what the guidebook says anyways.] [The hotel is a fairly standard nice one, big central plaza, lots of glass and windows.] [End of descrip.] Ah, nothing like a good concrete jungle to make you feel at home. ( OOC chan, Greg? ) ( Right, dice will matter ) * Kurt heads for the convention hotel. Best get a look around first. [The hotel has a lot of business types, and a relative scarcity of tourists, seems like it was pretty heavily booked. There's also a global trading company having a convention at the same time though, so discriminating targets might require a look at the badges they wear.] Just my luck. * Kurt heads inside anyway, and walks around like he's looking for something. [The parts of the hotel dedicated to actual meetings, lectures, demonstrations and the like is guarded by corporate security types. Nothing hard core but armed and have a professional look that makes you think they can call in nasties with those headsets they wear.] [Let's go with One World Shipping for the other company.] * Kurt wanders up to the CorpSec people. "Um... is this the One World Shipping area?" No sir. ::points:: Down the stairway and to your left, can't miss it. And be sure to hit registration before going in, save yourself some hastle. Oh, thanks! * Kurt smiles, enlightened, and heads that way. [No one seems to really notice him or be bothered by his movements. * Kurt heads off to the other end of the convention center and disappears down the stairs. * Kurt heads for the main lobby and bar area to look for some poor salaryman. [It's still fairly early, so there's only a few drinking, most are just business men and women meeting in the convenient seating area nearby. * Kurt ducks out of sight someplace, sighs, and goes invisible, then heads for the registration area. That's probably the best bet. [There's a registration room built into the wall that the Vanguard section is using. There's actually a rather short and quick moving line, seems everyone's information is already in the computer and some such. There's a corporate security type in the booth, but she looks bored.] * Kurt waits near the line for a particularly boring salaryman, preferably one from a long distant branch. (Give me an awareness vision check.) [He notices someone he's almost certain is from an African branch that seems rather isolated and without anyone who he knows.] * Kurt goes to stand near this guy and waits patiently for him. [Guy goes through the line and gets his badge (unless Kurt's interrupting that)] [Guy then heads off in the direction of what form the signage appears to be the tail end of a lecture on potential business opportunities in space for private corporations using the next generation of space technology.] .oO( Wow, this is going to be boring as hell. ) (Just waiting it out) (?) ( Yeah. If I'm lucky, he'll log in during the lecture. ) ( Okay, give me straight disguise/acting roll, as you have to wait around for a bit. ) [After a while the conference lets out and a good number of people, including Kurt's mark leaves. No one seems bothered by Kurt's loitering.] (Err.. wait, he's invisible.) (I'll just say no one hears him. Retcon. :P) [Target then heads over to the elevators on this floor.] * Kurt tags patiently along behind. .oO( I thought it'd never end. ) [There's actually a good amount of people waiting for elevators, looks like it might be a pretty full one once it comes.] .oO( Oh, THIS is gonna be fun. ) [Elevator opens and about a dozen people, including the mark, get in. Glass viewing elevator, cylindrical, about three meters tall.] * Kurt reaches up, grabs onto the top of the elevator door, and swings straight up to cling to the ceiling and walls. (give me an acrobatics roll. -4 from wall crawling) [Kurt makes the jump, but with the throng of people getting into the elevator his feet barely brush the top of one man's head. This slightly dislodges a toppee the man is wearing and he quickly puts a hand up to adjust it. He doesn't look up though, so apparently he thinks it's just that he was bumped. * Kurt lets out a hopefully inaudible sigh of relief. Thank goddess for ambient noise. [Kurt's mark gets off on the ninth floor and uneventfully goes to his room.] * Kurt follows after his mark. [Crawling out to the hallway is quite easy and results in no brushes with fake hair. * Kurt carefully holds his sigh of relief in, because the hallway doesn't have as much noise as the ele. [The mark gets to his door and on the second attempt manages to figure out how to use the keycard and open the door to go in. * Kurt slips in RIGHT behind the mark. (Less, acrobatics roll, -4 per level of speed.) (Lessee rather) [Kurt gets in the room, no trouble. The guy closes the door, puts down his shoulder bag on the bed, and then heads over to use the bathroom.] * Kurt carefully pulls out the patch and says a silent prayer. [Guy leaves the door open partially open but doesn't have a view of his bag.] * Kurt takes this opportunity to stealthfully place the patch on the laptop. (Give me a slieght of hand roll for making it look just like it did originally.) [After a little bit the guy comes back out (after washing his hands) and then goes to turn on the television.] [Guy chills for a while and watches an exciting new series about incredibly attractive people living normal lives.] * Kurt tries to resist the urge to kill this idiot. [Seems to be content to chill a while and just watch TV. Kurt could wait him out, but it's getting boring.] * Kurt walks over to the door and knocks. [Guy turns off the television and walks over towards the door. * Kurt stands by the door, ready to slip out once the door is open. [Guy looks through the keyhole, looks confused for a moment, and then about half opens the door to look out.] (Same acrobatics check. -4 cause speed isn't an issue, +2 cause it's less open. So -2 cumulative) * Kurt goes for it, angry that the guy's so paranoid. [Kurt just manages to squeeze through.] * Kurt practically dives through, barely getting his ankle free before the guy tries to close the door. He rolls to his feet and gestures rudely at the stupid man. If only he could be seen. [So, Kurt's in the clear. And he can check remotely about success with that login. So what's he going to do.] * Kurt heads for the stairway and uses that to go down, looking around for any security cameras while he's at it. (awareness vision check. burglary ( breaking and entering) I suppose will help. +4 penalty.) [Kurt figures out where every single one is, well hidden. He also figures out the brand of security camera's used and the general philosophy they use for placing them, so he doesn't need to check (in the hotel) again.] Session Time: Mon Jul 12 00:00:00 2004 * Kurt calmly exits the hotel and reappears into a just as he jostles past somebody on his way to a bar. [He's successful in this.]
